I was watching Paul Phua in Triton Poker SHR episode 5 on YouTube, and at 3.06 - 3.11 in he makes me laugh by him laughing uproariously one second, then instantly looking equally disgusted. Can anyone turn that into a recurring gif and put it here as it is so funny to see how inscrutable he is!

I hadn't intended to actually honor the request, but upon seeing it I laughed pretty hard myself.

Imagine if Dwan logged in to 2+2 for the first time in years and there are multiple posters with that avatar. I'd laugh and be a salty dog at the same time.

Edit: he is the one that stacked Dwan in cash right? I only watched that stream once months ago lol.

Triton games are the best poker since season 1 of HSP. One thing for sure is they are bigger.

Hot take: don't invite any Americans other than Dwan. The Asian players are much better to watch.

lol these triton poker shows have been super entertaining- for all the talk about what a big time 14k triad boss paul phua is, he really acts like a mentally handicapped child at the table

yea this. it's also kinda sad watching jason koon interact with this air of complete insincerity (the loud, forced laughter is a tell) and almost desperation to be perceived as a "real gambler" and get in the good graces of these businessmen. meanwhile paul just responds to him like he's a complete nobody, and goes after him in pots. i know he's backed for all these huge games now, but he really just looks/acts like he doesn't belong there.

contrast with the demeanor and table talk of mikita

jason does flatter elton more than other players. but who knows what kind of history they have, and if it's good for the game why is it a problem?

Eta -- +rep mentioned Paul Phua. the sense of humor and poker culture is different out east (apparently) - slowrollling for example is encouraged; all of the VIPs mock each other and act intentionally silly. the type of stuff that is literal fighting words in america. crazy thought - but maybe Jason Koon is slightly out of his comfort zone, and his "sad, insincere" behavior is just a regular guy trying to fit in.

^^well, you're right, and i don't mean to insult the guy so much as highlight those cultural differences you speak of, and the way it makes me feel as an observer. "sad" probably isn't the right word choice, mistake on my part- "cringe" is more appropriate (and obviously all of us have engaged in some level of cringeworthy behavior)

but you touch on the point im making when you point out how the asians all joke around and slowroll and mock each other, whereas american pros are used to kissing the ass of the action players in the games. it seemed apparent to me that phua/wang/tsang/etc see through the act and don't respect it.

yeah Nikita fits better then Jason, but i think Jason fits better then Sam Greenwood, at least he is trying , Phil Ivey is like no one cares about him or Patrick, they are nits in this line up, and by far the best fit when it comes to outsiders even tho he is half chinese? is Rui Cao, you can tell that Paul likes him being there and he is just hilarious i really like him, seems very likeable. There is just too much culture and language barrier, a typical American with not much character and persona will find it hard to fit in.
