Also, he raises a flopped set on this board because of the draws and he would have no problem taking it down there. He calls with KK too b/c he doesnt love his hand.

109 of spades or KK for sure.
R u serious? Then why do old nits keep 10 xing with the nuts in a 2 flush board and the show it when the player folds saying "na, if I slow play they woulda got me, I'm too smart for that.". Or 10 x with AA and say similar things...

Old guys tend to get it in good while it's good.

How does John Morgan not instantly flip his hand over?
If someone folds quads face up against you and you had the nut straight flush(using 2 holecards),would you muck your hand or flip it over immediately and show your disbelief in what the hell just happened?

If I'm sitting there with a straight flush and someone folds quads I'm going to be yelling at them accusing them of seeing my cards somehow.

From @garyWise1 Twitter:

John Morgan is out. I asked him again if he had the straight flush. He again only said "He made the right fold"

Well he busted by 4-betting all in with a flush draw on a TT8 board, so I'm not sure if the whole nitty reputation is all that accurate.

There is a very real chance the guy had the straight flush, given the action and everything it's a very real possibility.

Whether or not it's a strong enough chance to make it a good fold, nope. If you're looking for spots to make hero folds with quads, that's just not a good mindset.

I can guarantee you if this was normal sized buy in tournament dude snap calls the all in.

he had flush max, ppl come on, you don't fold quads EVER (ok maybe if board reads x5678ssss), then it's reasonable
07-02-2012 , 05:06 PM
As Eli would say "you a big player now, laying down quads"

will this ever be confirmed on tv? or will it just be speculation forever?

I just wish some people would come up with actual facts that made this a horrible fold instead of truths, apart from "his read might be wrong". Smirnov provided info on why he discarded "weaker" part of Morgan's value range as less likely than SF. He made an elaborate argument (cf. first link of Gary Wise). We have to assume that he had massive tells on Morgan, and Morgan showed extreme confidence postflop -> probably if he had jacks or kings he would also have seemed confident preflop. That doesn't mean he can never have jacks, but it's still food for thought. We are thinking here ; all you can do is "C'mon don't fold quads lol".

if your going to buyin into a tournament and fold fckn quads dont even bother entering it. Even if i saw the guys hole cards and saw my quads was beat i still wouldn't lay it down lol

THIS, plus the fact that John Morgan later said "I can't reveal what I had out of respect for my opponent".

You're showing your opponent a lot of respect if you say you had it, but it would be humiliating to say he had air and bluffed a guy off quads.

Ergo. No straight flush.
