He doesn't have either ban or lock powers in this situation.
Mods are physically incapable of locking or moving threads in forums that aren't theirs.
Mods do have the power to ban but aren't supposed to do it outside of their own forum except for obvious spamming or something like that.

For the most part, the mods are just like any other poster when not in their own forum.

If you want to give this thread some new life, you might consider this question:

Knowing everything we know today, which of these had more of a positive influence on the game of poker as we know it today (either live or online):
a) Rounders
b) Moneymaker

(I say "knowing everything we know today", because if the quesiton was "at the time they happened, which had a greater effect...", I think it's Moneymaker's win in a cakewalk. But looking back on everything in the aggregate, it's hard not to agree that Rounders had a huge effect as well.)

this is a nice observation, captain obvious.

considering moneymaker and hachem referenced the movie in talking about getting into poker.

on a totally unrelated note: how many drum majors did the move drumline create?

How is it that a box office bomb that almost no one saw gets credited with the poker boom? If it hadn't been made Moneymaker and Hachem would have referenced The Cincinnati Kid or California Split. Not saying Rounders wasn't the best poker movie ever, but come on, its a cult flick.
Nice post fake Malmouth.

I hear that Rounders is what got Johnny Chan interested in poker.

If I may quote Mike "the mouth" : "god bless Chris Moneymaker".

IMO he's right - Imagine Sammy winning their heads-up match?

I dare say none of us would be here today (and by "here" I mean this forum...)

Hmmm,

I'm not sure that:

a. this forum would be a live if not for Moneymaker.
b. Raymer would be here, or Raymer the WSOP champion.

a. Raymer was a member here well before Moneymaker won the WSOP.
b. Greg's first WSOP cash was in 2001.
c. Believe it or not people did play poker before 2003, including many of us here.

I didn't say that poker did not exist before Moneymaker - obviously he won his sit at an online site, which had to cater to a need.
BUT, the sheer growth of the poker world, and the internet poker in specific can, and should, be attributed to CM.
