Man I hope it wasn't a full Leaving Las Vegas scenario a la Nicolas Cage. The character in that movie was drinking absurd amounts of hard liquour from the moment of waking up to the point of passing out, rinse and repeat each day.

It sure sounds like Chad had enough friends that would intervene if the situation was THAT bad. If I ever got to that point, with any substance, I would hope a friend would kick my ass and drag me to rehab before dying. Maybe that's wishful thinking as although misery loves company, company doesn't love misery.

RIP Chad. I first met Chad in 2008 at a party. He and I were obv the shortest guys there and got along well I then played with Chad on day 1 of the 2009 main event and exchanged numbers. We were cool but pretty much lost contact over the years other then seeing his facebook outbursts. Deep down despite his struggles he was a cool cat. I hope he's at peace now.

Condolences to you and the family.

I realize that it's too soon, but I think sometimes the family can take comfort in knowing that increased awareness of whatever his struggles were can help someone out there.

A lot of other people have similar struggles, and it sounds like he was fairly open about his own, so I don't think it's disrespectful to acknowledge them.

One of the greats in our time for sure.

He was like moorman to me -- I never knew what to do when he 3bet. I just clicked buttons against him.

Really -- like, I'll never be remembered as someone that put people to the test. Chad did -- he made you muscle up. There's something to that. It doesn't necessarily draw the line between a good player and a bad one, but it does (for me) change who you remember and who you don't

I don't remember my encounters with rdrscn -- I remember my times that lil holdem ****ed with me

Anyway, RIP lilholdem. You'll be remembered.

damn, i used to love watching/occasionally (once or twice) playing tournaments with him online.

One of the true OG's of online poker. he's gotta be one of the top 5 guys i remember from the heyday of online poker tourneys.

Totally sucks. i wish the best for his family and friends.

found this old gem. this is without a doubt the best look into the poker mind of chad. you can tell by the way he answers the interviewers questions that he isnt putting up a front for the cameras/interview. if he doesnt understand a question, he immediately asks "what do you mean?" instead of skirting around it...likewise, he openly admits he doesnt even understand what "getting 3 to 1 on your money" means and that he has little to no understanding of the math.

kid was a pure feel player, something which is super difficult to pull off in an online setting. never read a poker book, never studied. he just played a learned by experience. really fascinating to listen to him talk about the way he approached the game.

The problem was he cut off all contact with people that wasn't immediate family. I assume that when it started to get bad. I've been in Florida since I moved back from his place in vegas years ago so we were mostly in contact via FB or skype. I had to hear from mutual friends who saw him this summer that he wasn't in the best of shape. Still, no way to get in contact with him. I lost my father to something similar, it was just over a bit longer time and there was just nothing anyone could have done. Once people get to a poor state, it takes nothing short of a miracle to get them back.

This is the ONLY reason I mentioned some things and wanted to be a bit open about it. I understand respect and privacy, however If it helped one person not destroy their life I think his family would understand. Some people are different though, I was always open about the passing of my parents. If people read around and see the different articles online remembering him, they will find somewhere what caused his passing.

I was there for just about all of his major wins pre black Friday, and still one of the sickest things I remember is when he won the WSOPC-Indiana main. I don't know if its in an article or interview anywhere online, But he had a big stack and it was the stone bubble. He opened two Queens and a shorty moved in, Instead of calling and most likely getting ITM, he folded on purpose to keep the bubble going. He increased his stack by something absurd like 40-60 bbs, maybe even more, winning basically every pot till the bubble finally burst. His mind was on a different level when he played poker and it was truly an art to watch.

It makes me feel so good to see so many of you guys come in here and post stories and pay respects. He was an inspiration to so many people. Thank you guys.

I remember this too. I feel like he talked about it on big poker sundays or whatever that podcast was with Sebok. I remember him saying he folded the QQ so he could continue raping the bubble. ( from memory but I believe that was very close to the exact quote)

Here's a recap of that final table:
http://m.pokerplayernewspaper.com/co...hip-event-5686

Chad was outchipped almost 10-1 beginning of heads-up but won like a boss.

Favorite part from article:
Later, Lance bet 190,000 all-in into a 200,000 pot on a flop of A-A-4. When Robert Arthur folded and Lance showed K-J, an admiring Batista, exclaimed "I love it!" and high-fived Lance for his daring bluff.

RIP. Didn't know him and only knew about him because I'd seen his sn in a thread title once. However, it's very sad to see somebody so young succumb to his demons and die.

I remember the story, I thought it was AA instead of QQ... It's effectively the same and makes for a much better story. Lol

Not long after I moved to Vegas I got a text from a buddy on the strip that he just saw Chad rolling by him on Las Vegas Blvd in a Bently.

I thought that was the coolest ****. An end boss just being a boss. I railed him for years and tried to always figure out what he was doing, I never could.

A true legend. RIP lilholdem

I was there working for Bluff doing commentary w/ Nick Geber......from what I remember...I could be wrong, long time ago.....Chad actually folded to a short stack w/ QQ in the BB after the short stack had moved all in from late position on the bubble...., he almost tripled his stack w/ his bubble play and laughed about it the entire time. I think we interviewed Chad before the final table (or after he won) and he told the story and his reasoning behind it. Not sure where to find it on Bluff website or WSOP website.

I played w/ Chad a few times in Florida and made 2 finals tables against him. In a small event at the Isle Casino he would leave the final table for 10 minutes....come back and raise 5 hands in a row.....then leave again for 10 minutes!!!!!! Always loved playing against him....I learned a lot!!!!!
