Well, the government went all-in, and I'll quote some dude with a UK accent from some poker telecast a few years ago when he told the other player (while making up his mind on his action) - I'm not folding.

A couple of things.

Context is important. These are international companies doing billions in business worldwide and their owners have been indicted, accounts frozen and primary mode of doing business (online) has been shut down and made inaccessible to a huge population. This will affect everyone, regardless of where you play because when you are accused of committing a crime, you aren't generally allowed to continue said business with allegedly ill-gotten proceeds. Presumably, the ability of the companies to conduct normal business will be affected by the inaccessibility of funds.

Speaking of frozen funds, the indictment lists several non-US banks where the accounts have been frozen. I have no idea which funds these sites keep in which banks but I would be surprised of some player deposits weren't in these accounts.

Whether or not any players see their money again will depend upon what happens in the next several legal proceedings. The companies are going to file all kinds of motions (presumably) to get assets unfrozen and their domains back among other things. Non-US players could be adversely affected just like any innocent customer of another business could be affected by the overall dealings of that business. It's too early to tell yet.

Yeah I cashed out a chunk just in case. Wouldn't want to try to log into Stars in the next few days only for the client not to open and me wondering how the f i get my money back.

People complaining about the government are being totally ridiculous imo. Did you read the release? These sites were blatantly ignoring the law, bribing payment processors, etc. I feel bad for current pros, but I'm also very glad that people who broke the law (not talking about individual players) are going to be punished.

Now, if the government seizes player funds - then you have a good reason to complain. I highly doubt it, though. I would guess the gov will help return money to players if there is any money left... THAT is what I would be worried about. Will these companies have any money left over to pay players?

I can understand your frustration, but this is over-reactionary and uncalled for. I'm not American but the acts of terrorism carried out against the country (and others) isn't justifiable in any way.

With regards to the current situation everyone is facing, I would say that if your money is with Full Tilt or Stars, to remain calm. I would be extremely uneasy right now if I had money on UB or indeed any other site that is accepting US players, as their accounts are going to be frozen at the very least. Then there is the question of whether these sites can actually facilitate such a simultaneous "run on the bank".

I'm sure Stars and FTP will be able to cover most/all of their held funds in time, however I would be extremely skeptical as to whether those with UB and others will even see 50% of their money again. However, the warning signs were there and honestly, if UB stings you here, you deserve it.

I would imagine the games will eventually go down for everyone until something is sorted out to enable those who can (at the moment anyway) still play to, while preventing US players from doing so.

It's not in the sites interest to have EVERYONE try to leave and withdraw now so they'll be scrambling to facilitate non-US asap.

There's no telling how long the relevant accounts will be frozen for though so something I would stress is that if you're relying on a withdrawal to pay your rent or bills, go and sort out alternative financing NOW. I would also suggest that people do not initiate cashout requests at the moment until it is clarified as to whether it will actually be processed. The last thing you want is money disappearing off the records/getting lost. It's better that it's visible in your account than "processing" elsewhere.

I hope everyone on Stars and FTP get out of this alright, I've no sympathy for those on other sites. Regardless of the outcome, given how the media is portraying the sites and people involved, online poker will never be the same going forward.

I don't regret staying in school and working hard. I am done with online poker forever after this nonsense, money laundering and illegal bank transfers is something I don't want to be around. I wish you all luck.
