"For example, defendants ISAI SCHEINBERG and PAUL TATE of
PokerStars, RAYMOND BITAR and NELSON BURTNICK of Full Tilt Poker,
and SCOTT TOM and BRENT BECKLEY of Absolute Poker, arranged for
the money received from U.S. gamblers to be disguised as payments
to hundreds of non-existent online merchants purporting to sell
merchandise such as jewelry and golf balls."

"By late 2009, after U.S. banks and financial
institutions detected and shut down multiple fraudulent bank
accounts used by the Poker Companies, SCHEINBERG and BITAR
developed a new processing strategy that would not involve lying
to banks. PokerStars, FullTilt Poker, and their payment
processors persuaded the principals of a few small, local banks
facing financial difficulties to engage in such processing in
return for multi-million dollar investments in the banks. For
example, in September 2009, ELIE and others approached defendant
JOHN CAMPOS, the Vice Chairman of the Board and part-owner of
SunFirst Bank, a small, private bank based in Saint George, Utah,
about processing Internet poker transactions. While expressing
"trepidations," CAMPOS allegedly agreed to process gambling
transactions in return for a $10 million investment in SunFirst
by ELIE and an associate, which would give them a more than 30%
ownership stake in the bank. CAMPOS also requested and received
a $20,000 "bonus" for his assistance. In an e-mail, one of
ELIE’s associates boasted that they had "purchased" SunFirst and
that they "were looking to purchase" "a grand total of 3 or 4
banks" to process payments."

They literally bought a bank and paid the manager to violate the UIGEA. You just cant do that and brag about it.

These guys are criminals, f*&$ em. The silver lining is that the sheer numbers of us will force a reputable, regulated business at some point in the future. You would rather play in a game without thugs and guns right? Well then lets play in one where our hosts arent white collar criminals.

You, sir, live in a country where white collar criminals, just like these, run our government. Name me a politician, probably beside Ron Paul, who does not do run for office without being paid by some type of big corporate company.

This goes beyond poker, this is a war on our personal choice of spending money we earn as we choose.

Originally I thought It wouldn't be an issue for us, but after reading all the information I decided to (succesfully) withdraw my whole roll.

It's more that likely that your money is safe, but until more information is revealed I feel that it would be wiser to grab your money now while you can. There's nothing to lose if you can withdraw now, you can always re-deposit in a few days if things IF things settle and more information is revealed.

So should I still pay my taxes?

Idk if the money I earned is income or not anymore..

have to laugh, sorry.

does anyone think for a minute that if there was a 'run on the bank', and everyone wanted to withdrawl their account simultaneously, that the site would have everyones $ ??

banks do the same thing. you deposit your $, the bank turns around and loans it out 10X, and invests it. when you want to withdraw it, they try to talk you out of closing your account every time. it's because they don't have everyones' $ anymore. it's called fractional reserve banking.

in other words: that $ does not exist, and it never existed.
c'ya!

don't worry, though, soon enough we will have a cashless society forced upon us, and then live players will be f@#*%d.
lol @ comparing player balances to non demand account balances at a bank.

Doesn't the Doj give 20% of all funds seized to whistleblowers if so David tzseversky is entitled to 600 mil. Get arrested, avoid jail time, make 600 mil=profit?

Hmmm, I'm self excluded on stars until the 26th so I can't access my account.

I'm a UK player; is there anything I can do (in order to make a withdrawal) besides contacting stars support & praying?
