There's also a huge number of fish who want to play post-2006 but have trouble getting money online as it's not the most easy thing to do. After online poker is legal and regulated, it'll be easy to get money on and off. For players, like me, that have been playing and keeping up with the game, it'll be a gold mine against players like these.
You ignored his point completely, potential over taxation and fees

Anyone who is saying taxation and fees will destroy any game is completely making **** up. Could it go down that way? Mebbe.... Stating it as a certainty though screams I'm making **** up.

ALERT: There's a DOJ oversight meeting on Tues, May 3rd @ 10:30 am at the Rayburn House Office Bldg in D.C. The PPA will pose questions about the poker crackdown. We have been invited to join them! (See DOJ oversight meeting thread)

The PPA is going to have some of its members protesting with pro-poker tshirts. Please TWEET, POST, GO TO THE OVERSIGHT MEETING, TELL FRIENDS

Here's a map:
http://www.aoc.gov/cc/images/Visitin...ap_print_2.jpg.

A group of us on 2+2 (separate from the PPA) have been reaching out to start/organize protests by state (Official Group Organization Protest Thread).

The plan is for these groups to host local rallys/protests with an eventual march in DC. Our numbers are growing everyday. 17 states are represented so far. (See http://goipp.********.com/)

Many of us are writing letters, making phone calls, etc. Attending the DOJ oversight meeting is another opportunity to show support for online poker(irrespective of whether you agree/disagree with the PPA on everything).

Although I didn't specifically address that point in my post, I didn't ignore it. I'll spell it out now but the implication I was making is that the games will be so good that it will easily overcome the tax issues. Once word gets out that poker is 100% legal, there will be so many fresh fish playing poker and so many rooms competing for customers that good players will make so much money AND I think there will be so many bonus offers to get players, too.

If you play Brick and Mortar, even just a little they throw bonuses and cash grabs at you all the time. The new poker sites will give out plenty of bonuses and incentives.

Haha right because poker sites are just good people like that.

Look at the rake on state lotteries.

No, I'm just using the precedent of the states' other sanctioned gambling venture, the lottery, where the vig is right around 30% depending what state youre in.

So if the states are willing to rake 30% od the prize pool from the lottery, why would they rake much less than that for poker tournaments or cash games?

A possible reason could be because some people make their living from poker, as to where none of us personally know anyone who makes their living from lottery.

The government will actively seek to keep the professional poker player happy :checkbox empty:

It is not UB/AP filing for bankruptcy. It is a company of former AP shareholders who are filing for bankruptcy. AP owes them $250,000,000 dollars but AP is not even paying the interest, so their company has expenses but no income. This company has had trouble getting paid by AP since about 2008.

probably not I believe they stop account access based on IP, which would mean even though your account is based out of EU your IP will show you are in the US, but i am not 100% sure.

No. Real-money play in the US is not permitted.

Though a Canadian-based player, I could not play on my PS account while on vacation in the US last week.

I don't understand this argument.

Sure, there won't be giant processor fees, but what'll stop sites from charging a 10% rake?

It's going to come down to what they can get away with. Most people obviously play for entertainment and are happy to play fundamentally -EV games, as they do in casinos.

Only 1% or less of the player base would complain about an unbeatable rake, so it's going to come down to a simple calculation:

Cave to the whining of 1% of their players and lower the rake, or tell them to **** off and keep an unbeatable rake that 99% of their players neither know nor care about.

Gonna take a business genius to figure this one out, it's really close....

Havent been so Mad at the gov in awhile. All these idiot politicians spewing hypocrisy about something they barely understand. I play for fun so it's not effecting me much. However banning a clear skill game when lotto, horse betting are going on. Go talk to durrrr and Ivey and Dn and get off your lazy ass and regulate it. dont tout freedom and no intrusion when you restrict playing a game named after Texas. FFs the Russians hAve
More freedom.

Super basic economics bro. You want a larger marketshare, you are going to have to collect less rake or run better promotions.

Woe to Those at Ease in Zion

Woe to those who are at ease in Zion,
And those who feel secure on the mountain of the DOJ,
the notable men of the first of the nations,
to whom the house of Government comes!
Pass over to Pokerstars, and see,
and from there go to Full Tilt the great;
then go down to Absolute Poker and UB.
Are you better than these kingdoms?
Or is their territory greater than your territory,
O you who put far away the day of disaster
and bring near the seat of violence?

Woe to those who lie on beds of ivory
and stretch themselves out on their couches,
and eat lambs from the flock
and calves from the midst of the stall,
who sing idle songs to the sound of the harp
and like David invent for themselves instruments of music,
who drink wine in bowls
and anoint themselves with the finest oils,
but are not grieved over the ruin of Pokerstars!
