Not only smoking live but Binions giving away cigarettes to players. Good for 3-4 packs of Marlboros a day.

I was on the business end of Gary Carson more than once, remember thinking that Abdul Jalib was an "amazing poker mind", the legendary Russ (RIP, king of the trolls), Razzo, and him bizarrely showing up in that Sklansky video (I think), old-school RGP Daniel, and yeah, a billion other things. I was a latecomer to 2+2 mostly because I felt loyalty to RGP.

Any Steve Badger fans out there??

I love these nostalgia threads, especially now that I consider poker more or less a thing of the past.

I got into poker (started playing with my friends) literally two weeks before the first WPT broadcast, which I guess was a couple months before Moneymaker. I was kind of a "precognition boomer." It's like my friends and I could sense it coming. Not a johnny-come-lately, but not a true old schooler either.

The one thing I will always remember most strongly about the Golden Years is making a lot of easy money, but failing to make even a fraction of what I could have.

Whatever happened with the DERB / eastern europe poker bot thing that tied in some ukranian broad and Sklansky? I stopped playing right in the middle of that ****show when derb was killing party 30/60...

Seemed like a soap opera and I really want to know wtf was up with all that.

I remember the DERB discussions

I remember the party rebuy glitch. When they first introduced rebuy tournaments you could push all in and while your chips were in the center it would allow you to rebuy. Do that a couple of times and you could have a massive stack. I had one run where i cashed pretty deep in like 4 out of 5.

I remember having to play on empire poker so I could play more than 4 tables at a time.

I remember the epic JOEYBITCH(???) posts

LOL - The Aldernay Nursing Home has plenty of beds open on the middle limit stud player's ward.

I remember PokerStars having $1+$0, $3+$0, and $5+$0 tournaments.
I remember Party paying monthly interest on your account balance, but also that they charged rake over their rebuys.
I remember Everest Poker having uncapped rake, and still people would play there, because their action generating bots were absolutely awful.
I remember the $1/2 limit games on True Poker, where the small blind was $1, because they didn't do cents.

I remember when sit&go blind levels increased after a set number of hands, not a set amount of time.

I remember the infamous Rzitup "enjoy!" post (I think it was Rzitup? Maybe his brother?).

When Q5 was for some reason designated as the Granny Mae hand.

Really?? Ive smoked cigs while playing live many times, mostly ac. Ive paid 20$ for a pack in that same casino. Casinos giving several packs away to people everyday sounds absurd by today's standards. Was the Bad Beat Jackpot a carton of Winstons?

I remember when party implemented stakes up to nl1k, before that I think the highest NL game was nl200. Unfortunately they didnt care if people abused the disconnect-protect feature. People would disconnect on AK3 type flops all the time when they had mid pair, mid pocket pair-etc. The software would just return your c-bet to you, deal the turn & river, then award the pot to the best hand. Which really sucked when you opened pf w/89 or 22-66 and would have taken the pot down.

Binions was absolutely immense the first time I went to LV. Everything was limit with family pots commonplace. There was free drinks, cigs, comps for the coffee shop. A drink at the bar was only $1 downtown - maybe $3/4 on the strip. My first visit in maybe '99 cost me $800 in total-flight from uk, hotel, everything!
