ditto. he just won. like all the time. with class, and integrity, and humility, and all that other good stuff when there wasn't much good stuff in the poker world.

Angelina. Another one who could play the spots off the cards when she was hittin' right. very nice mention, adam.

bar none, the best novel about poker/gambling that noone has ever read. find it, read it, read it again. Might come in handy cause a lot of internet guys are going to have to develop some live skills that don't come cheap or easy.[/QUOTE]

people think skill is the hard part, but it's luck. and some people are never going to be able to fade it.

paraphrased, but close.

How about a game that UB (actually, they called themselves UltimateBet more back them) actually invented called Royal Hold'em that was regular Hold'em played with all cards except the 10's thru A's removed from the deck!

I made what felt like I thought was a ton of dough in the first few weeks of that game just using simple math and gut instinct. Then, suddenly, it was like the hammer fell, some dudes appeared who really knew what they were doing started crushing everyone else. Sad really, I thought I'd hit the jackpot with that game until someone who was really smart actually solved it (and probably multi-tabled and burnt the game out). The game was gone in a matter of weeks or months!!! Rather silly, I think that game would be burned out in a matter of days today if it appeared online again.

Recall much of OP stuff. Here's another for those who played in the midwest. Planning your trip to make sure you got to the riverboat to board on time.

Back in the day, you could only board at two hour intervals because the boat was required to cruise ( at least in certain states). I'd bet accidents and speeding tickets near the boats are way down since they stopped the cruising.

I'm so old school I remember when the chat on internet site was used to have conversations. Noticing a hometown, you might ask if they knew a certain person, or about a recent event there. And get a civil response. Server crashes or freezes were a regular thing. Somehow, you still could usually chat with the other players anyway, and people would tell jokes or complain about the site or their bad luck. LOL, those were the days.

I ran it up to $250 playing small then tilt-regged for a big SNG where i lost a flopped flush vs a Ahigh FD. The NL50 games must have been the sickest fishfests ever back then.

I do remember on everest in the micro to low stakes SNG's you could basicly go sitout and you had a 90% chance to make the money. Then they removed the option to sitout or something like that, cant remember. 2-3 people busting in the first 3 hands was normal.

I was an awful fish then and really didn't know about this site. However I remember once stumbling across a thread, I think it was here, where some guy was basically blogging about his attempt to go pro. I think he was playing on Paradise? It seemed mind blowing to me at the time and was quite fascinating to read about his ups and downs. It appeared to generate a lot of interest at the time maybe 2001?

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I remember playing .25c .50c 7card at the Seminole Casino in Tampa,
Dealers would give a rebate when the pot reached $10 and it would just be showdown after that.

For all you Smokers, The pit bosses at Foxwoods would give out free smokes if you were playing $25 a hand BJ. (lol) Not in a long time have they!

Anyone else remember the day when PP switched everything from 50 bb tables to 100 bb tables. They also opened up $3/$6 and $5/$10 that day

Third hand at a 3/6 table I got AJ on AA6J2 board and stacked A8...it was the biggest pot of my life up to that point
