I remember when the poker games were 95 percent stud, with one limit hold 'em table going in the corner. I even played five-card draw occasionally.

Watch the opening scene of "California Split." Pretty much that.

I remember when people found out I played online poker for a living, they would always ask me, aren't u worried about being cheated? DIdnt u see 20/20?

I would always tell them that the 2 biggest sites made WAY too much money and had way to much to lose by letting that stuff go on, and that I trusted them with my bankroll.

Ah, to be young and naive again.........

and +1 to Paradise Poker having virtual drinks at the table, hot dogs, etc... would always order champagne after winning a big pot, lol good times.

Btw, I still have 2k on Paradise Poker, they somehow would never respond to my emails after UIGEA. Shoulda known it was gonna happen again when i had 10x that much and my lively hood at stake on FTP........

that is awesome. you might be the most old school just because of that. Going to the grand because of the incredible room rate and free buffet and grinding it out with gary carson in some 6/12 lhe game.

By th way, there was a time when gary and daniel feuded and daniel responded. those were the days.

I got 50 free on party 17, count em, 17 times from an affiliate named "riapeno" (i think), before going on a 24k heater that established me as a full time "pro" in my local HOSE game at showboat casino in east chicago. palying against jama and nina and dasher, and some othe degens who could play the spots off the cards, by the way

back then you just made up a name for your account, e.g. "Mike Hunt", and if you won, party sent you a check and you just third party deposited it in your bank account, lol. sounds shady, but at least i never got stiffed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember back when you could just run over tables on Pacific and Party playing 5/10. Anyone you saw less than 3 times was practically free money

Last time I tried playing 1/2 HU online I had a wait list and it was definitely for me

Does anyone remember "Dreamclown is waiting"

it was more of a FCP forum thing but it was when Dreamclown and DN had epic HU matches about 6-7 years ago.

Yeah , I remember that too. And the occasional game of Pan too. The first game i ever played in a poker room was stud.

I Remember being able to smoke at the table. I hated it. I would always leave the casino with a headache. And i smoke. I hardly ever lit up while seated at the table. Everyone would ask why stood up and walked away to smoke. I always thought it was rude to smoke in such close proximity to others who don't .

I remember when you could ask someone what there favorite casino game was and nobody ever said poker. It was always Blackjack.

I too remember the small window on UB. And thinking what the hell is that for.

I remember learning to play texas hold'em with a bunch of geezers at "Silver City Casino".

it was actually the poker rooms final weekend...back in the day when they were shutting down poker rooms, Treasure Island was rumored to be replacing theirs with a pizza oven...haha

could an old-timer be so nice as to explain what each of the things mentioned in the OP are other than smoking at the table, never playing AJs for a raise, single blind game and fit or fold which are obvious?

I know who Jesse May is, is Shut up and Deal a book or video by him?
