I had a similar experience in Lubbock my freshman year of college. Some guy told me he could get me a VCR for $175 (they were over a $1000 at the time). I let my greed take over and pushed logic aside.

Long story, short, I gave him the money to go inside and get the VCR. Of course he never came back.
