Segment One: Big Bet Mixed During the 2015 WSOP

Having hung up my shingle as a poker journalist (of sorts) for the season, I do have a parting shot, courtesy of Brian Rast. This is a pretty far ranging Skype conversation (he is currently in Brazil) that touches on everything from the Super High Roller Bowl to some inspired political rants, which I was transfixed by because.. you know.. they seem pretty much grounded in reality.

The interview went on about 2 hours, could have easily extended to 3, but the connection stopped working. Solar flares.

I'll put up segments as I listen to and edit them. The sound quality is marginal at best, but the content is nice.

As a pro journalist you should know that hanging up a shingle (i.e. a sign) means to start operations, not to finish.

IDC how much money these elite poker players have; they still don't know how to look after their appearance. Take a look at Rast: wearing a shirt that would have been on the fringes of being fashionable ten years ago (now it looks horrendous), and having the top two buttons undone - going for the pimp/porn star look w/matching tasch/beard.

Having the top two buttons undone requires a certain appearence, like a silk black shirt being worn by someone that can pull it off.

Rast would do well to ditch the minor protruding chest hair look.

I don't wanna single out just Rast tho, because poker players in general are notorious for looking bad.

I don't think it's sexist to use every advantage you have.

Contrast with the Brazil t-shirt at the 2014 One Drop. Remember in many countries two buttons is de rigeur, cause its ****ing hot.

Segment Two: Winning the $50k Poker Player's Championship

A good interview, ruined by interruptions and constant 'yeahs' and 'gotchas'.

Medical Poker Clinics as a way to legalize poker. Coffee all over my desk. Thanks OP!

Suggestion: Just post entire interview without edits. You left off first segment with asking about 100k buy-in and it sounded like Rast laughed at that....would be good to hear full context of his responses/comments.

Micheal Jordan dresses like Steven Seagal. Who gives a **** what people wear at a poker table.

You'd think when they're playing these $1m BI's that they'd look a bit sharper. Marcel Luske often wears a suit and dresses like a professional when he plays. It reflects well on the game overall, and makes people aspire towards these top players (when they dress well).

Interesting use of the bold caps there. Are you always this passive aggressive?

It's not fashion sensitive to not look like I've rolled out the trunk of a car.

lol the fashion derail is hilariously stupid, the day i care about what other people think of my clothes and hair/beard is the day i burst into flames and reincarnate as a phoenix god.

Moving on to the "inspired by South Park" part of the interview...

We lost connection at that point and by the time we reconnected the conversation had moved on. Similarly, with the last point I am making in this segment, we lost connection. So there are natural interruption points. Solar flares.

Regarding editing, there are a couple things Rast wanted me to drop, as well as a few things that I decided were extraneous.

What pants would you recommend he wore with that shirt?
Solar flares?

Yeah sorry OP but your constant interruptions/talking over him/random insertion of words made it very hard to listen to this. Gotta work on that stuff in the future.

In part because of the nature of Skype. I did try and rectify this in the latter half ...

Segment 4: Rast Runs it Up, Judiciously

Brian Rast talks about his investment strategy for the Aria $500k and how winning the $25k satty did not make him take a recklessly large piece of himself.
