I play on ACR almost exclusively for a living, I hope this is a step in the right direction, the bot/collusions/RTA has gotten absolutely out of control

While I like him, I also heard his commentary on GG Poker Final Tables and tbh I am not sure if he has enough skill to actually have a big impact.
There are soo many players, why would you chose someone who hasnt really played in so many years?

Now, you might be asking yourself, why is the hiring of a security consultant news? After all, Americas Cardroom has lots of them, which help give our site the well-deserved reputation of upmost safety.
HA

This is a good thing and progress is progress but this press release reads like satire

One of the biggest winners on midstakes if not the biggest winner on these stakes ever for sure could bring value to a security department.

Ofc feels a bit like just PR but maybe it isn't and he can work on improving the sec

Don`t get me wrong and I sure hope so as well but at the same time I just think that I would not feel comfortable if Nanonoko was actually the one making the decision if someone is being banned or not for using an RTA.

What I expect from a Consultant is to be capable to add extra value to a security department and if they see Nanonoko as just that in todays environment, I just don`t think thats really a good sign for the security department in the first place.

Really not hating on him as a person and I think his involvement over the years and how he is still part of the environment is impressing but I dont think that within the last 5 years he would have ever considered himself as a super good regular on the midstakes anymore. Environment has changed and his big times was before all of the solvers and so on and I would think that in todays environment it is important to rather look at the big data, the stats of individual players and their improvement over the months/tourney stages (ghosting) and so on.

I really hope he can make an improvement but I just think that it is the wrong kind of addition in a developed environment.

Props to him in any way though - really good entertainer and host these days!

Seems it can't be that bad if you're still able to play for a living there

Nano seems like a legit dude but he is going to be limited in what he can actually deliver without some type of cyber security/software programming background

Is ACR going to give him the power to ban someone based on bot like behavior and country origin? or is this just a huge PR stunt?

You can bet your azz Nano will be freerolling every high stake mtt as ACR will likely offload a bunch of tickets to him as part of the compensation package

Cashgame lobby is full of bots/players with some kind of rta assistance. Known botters win the leaderboards basically every single week and they write about their amazing game integrity... just lol

on the other hand, hope it might not be jus tonly a pr move. Nano could def improve their security, just with his mentality. Atm it feels like acr has a handful of security peoples there, who never played a single hand of poker. otherwise many accounts would have been banned already.

nl hs lobbies are hold completly by a botting account.... u can imagine how the situation is on lower stakes then.

How much can he actually do?

Remember when tons of pros were sponsored on corrupt sites and they either:

a) choose to do nothing (out of greed/apathy or out of a calculated "if I quit I can't help but if I stay then maybe I can help)

b) didn't have the ability to do anything

Because active players tend to play and study. Also, I assume as an ACR security consultant, he will have access to various players hands. I don't think it would ethical to have an active player looking through other players hands..

If 2BTCONRED is still around after he starts working for them then you know it's just for PR.

Lew’s duties here will include working with our security team on suspected fraud, collusion and bot activity. He will also review hand histories when the security team is forced to do an investigation and give us his expert opinion.
What qualifications does he have for this sort of thing?

I know next to nothing about cybersecurity and only slightly more about the kind of analytics into player behavior that would uncover bots, RTA, and collusion. But I can imagine ways that Nanonoko might not have the resources and power needed to make an impact.

But if ACR hired someone and gave them the ability to make a real impact, what would that look like? What are the things that need to be done and what are the missing pieces that would prevent him from doing them? Is this a tech problem or something else?

A few sites have pulled this move and only given the pro access to very select information. Then if the pro sticks around it hurts their rep, and if they leave early it hurts their chances at future sponsorship.

You can be guaranteed that in the employment contract ACR are under no obligation to disclose any and all information to Randy on these matters.

What Nanonoko was famous for was that he could grind 24 tables of nl200 and nl400 profitably. But he was never a "deep" thinker. There is a video made by 0human0 around 2010-2011 where he was exploiting Nanonoko's leaks. I know when Randy was playing high stakes he was the "target".

But nevertheless I think he's definitely good for this job.
