The "return" of Haseeb Qureshi The "return" of Haseeb Qureshi

12-20-2013 , 10:13 PM
I have not been following what Haseeb has been up to at all but for some reason just Googled his name and went to his website to see this:

Quote:
So I’m starting over.

I’ve decided to give away all of my money. Two years after retiring from poker, I have left about half a million dollars. I’m giving some of it to charity, and the rest to my family to go toward my parents’ retirement. I’m leaving myself $10,000 to live off—you know, in case I’m an idiot and everything goes horribly wrong. Oh, and I just finished my first book! It’s for sale now, you can get it here.
Seems newsworthy since he was a big part of the high stakes poker community for a long time and the scandals.

EDIT: Sorry for potentially misleading title, but that's what the title to his blog post is. He's giving away $75k to charity, according to him, and the rest to his parents. So he is "giving away his money" in a sense, but mostly to his parents.

That makes you the second person today that just happened to randomly Google Haseeb Qureshi and post this information in NVG.

Really? ****, sorry. I skimmed through NVG and didn't see anything about it.

No good deed goes unpunished. 75k to charity is no joke and parents or not, giving away all your net worth is newsworthy.

unless your parents already have more than enough
12-20-2013 , 11:13 PM
he had a video on that page earlier which featured him talking like a complete tool (as always) and rubbing his head / touching his neck constantly suggesting he's being disingenuous

but he removed it and made it private....LOL

In after mental breakdown.

I'm sure his book will be fantastic, he always reminded me of a young F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Oh man.

I was dreading if NVG would pick this up. I was worried it'd get flamed hard.

You guys, I know I've made huge mistakes in the past. On this forum, even. I don't expect to be forgiven. Some of you even hate me, understandably. But please remember, I'm just a human being. I'm trying my best to move forward in my life and give value to people. I can't change the mistakes I've made, but I can try to be a good person and do what I can to make things right. That's all I can do, really.

Most of the money I'm giving away is going toward my family. I believe that's the right thing to do as a son, to honor your debt to your parents before anything else. And yes, they could use the money. Some might say that's selfish, but I believe, at least for me, it's what's right.

Anyway. Sorry. Perhaps I shouldn't have replied, and maybe I'll incite more flames by doing so, so I'll butt out. But I just wanted to say that.

(Re: the thing about the video, yeah, I originally had one but it was really crappy. I just went with the first shoot. I wanted to redo it and make a better one later, but if you really want to see it, I can re-upload it.)

cliffs on what he did?
12-21-2013 , 01:45 AM
Hey Haseeb,

It's nice of you to do. Any reason you did it publicly instead of privately?

Lol, stahp. This blog post just went up today and two people have already claimed that they randomly decided to Google Haseeb Qureshi and came here to make this thread. I don't have anything to say about it, but there's a lot of terrible acting going on here.
12-21-2013 , 01:50 AM

12-21-2013 , 01:52 AM

Oh so that's what you meant. I don't know what the **** you're talking about. Look at my post history. I almost never post in NVG and I have never met anyone "famous" in the online or non-online poker world. I really did just Google his name.
12-21-2013 , 02:03 AM
Disingenuous scumbags with warped worldviews like Haseeb only do this **** for publicity and their own self-interest. He obviously wanted people to read about it. He obviously wanted NVG to pick it up. If he didn't, he would've just done it privately like an actual good Samaritan instead of blogging about it.

My god, he even linked to a page where you can buy his book.

I think the bet he made against Ashton Griffin was worse than him concocting Girah.

That said, his HU video series on Deuces Cracked was extremely good.

Haseeb
I hope you know that nobody is still shaking their fist in anger at you after all these years (i think). At a certain point, a person should recognize that as humans, we make mistakes, and punishing yourself forever isn't a very good solution. I read the whole scandal threads pretty extensively, granted it must have been over a year ago, I don't feel you are guilty of anything worse than Jungle. It was my understanding that your lying and trying to cover the whole thing up was your greatest crime. Anyway, if you are reading this Haseeb, even though I don't claim to represent the entire poker/2+2 community, I would venture to guess that most people would consider you forgiven.

What up Haseeb, I'm a big fan. I even wrote a song about you one time.
12-21-2013 , 02:47 AM
I bought his book, hopefully it's good and good for you to give the money to your parents
