Well people prefer different things of course. But I know alot of people who get depressed due to playing poker for a living to varying degrees. I would say most people I know have been largely effected adversely by poker - although some might not admit that.
For some people though, poker will fit nicely into their life. My advice to you but be to always maintain the ability and drive to be able to get out of the poker pro lifestyle eventually. If you do that then there is really no downside for you, but it is hard to do tbh.
