I don't understand your point. There are established YouTuber's with millions of subscribers who have product placement ads in their videos. His ad is for some unrelated streaming service - it's not like he's trying to sell card-counting training videos.

The most interesting thing is the timing of it. Kind of crazy to think back how quickly everything started shutting down in March 2020 and all of the uncertainty at that time.

Found this guys channel through the start of that video series. Great viewing. I recommend watching his videos from the start (of the card counting project), very interesting.

I don't think that really affects what he said. I don't see anything suggesting it was some kind of set-up, a "hey you can beat blackjack like me with product x" scam...he called him an "online link hustler", which I assumed meant someone who creates videos to make money through ads.

That said, I agree with you - Gzesh kind of comes across like an old man yelling at clouds. Yeah, people create videos on Youtube to entertain/inform people, and they make money from said content with ads. Kind of like TV, newspapers, and magazines. Pretty weak thing to knock a YouTuber for.

the guy put what looks like hundreds of hours into making that one 30 minute video (which was really good content btw) of course he is going to want to make some money off of it

Bobo, pretty weak ? Scam for product X is an offensive term to be bandied about by you just because a product is gambling related in some manner.

His content is unintentionally hilarious, I think, because of its smarmy Brit sort of affectations. The folks at that casino in Washington were WAY nice to him, they didn't even 86 him, just told him he could play minimum bets at BJ and anything else was fully open.

The product links however pitched by him were in no way related to his content, his counting or any reason for being. If he had some blackjack product, why do you think that would be a scam ? Are you really unintentionally implying that 2+2 products for example are some sort of "scam" because they are poker educational on a site with poker content.. That sort of pitch would have been less annoying.

(Thanks for the condescending info about the general concept of the media sponsorship model for broadcast and online content. I heard they sometime even put poker content on free to watch television at times.)

I’ve been watching this series a lot. It’s really interesting to watch his journey because he definitely shows the highs and lows.

I may not have been as clear as I could have been. pocket_zeros mentioned, in response to your post, that "it's not like he's trying to sell card-counting training videos". I was simply attempting to clarify that really didn't change the point, that no one was suggesting the video was centered around a "get rick quick" sales point. I may have misinterpreted what he meant, IDK. But of course I'm not suggesting that gambling-related products are by definition scams.

Well, when you say "Just another online link hustler, forget the blackjack .... now, only 26% off on THIS deal.", I'm not sure what your point is supposed to be.

I've found the series to be entertaining. Pretty telling how fast he gets backed off once the industry knows his face, as in the gaming industry shares information even if they have different owners.

The latest has an interesting legal angle when the gaming 'police' in Blackhawk CO blocks his car and tells the player (Sheriff) that card counting is a ''fraudulent activity". Good luck making that stick but the players need to STFU and just leave and not verbally engage the suits.

I haven't played in some of the places he's played in and from what i understand outside of vegas survalliance isn't nearly as good at catching card counters but it really is amazing how fast word spreads once they do catch you.
Even in Vegas, while most backoffs will be professional, once you start getting backed off they backoffs start coming quicker anywhere you go in the near future. If you go back 6 months or a year later you'll notice the same thing happening. Early on in your trip it will take a lot longer to get backed off than it will a few days or a week later, even if you're in casinos you've never played in before.

Yeah I randomly came across his videos and ended up watching them all and thought they were really fun / interesting. Definitely worth a watch. I kind of feel bad for him for outing himself from the very start, meaning his BJ career will be short lived after spending all that time learning how to count cards. Nice he shared his journey though!

From watching the videos it seems like a combination of he wanted to see if he could do it, he doesn't live here and posted the videos long after he visited these casinos so i guess long term he isn't worry about that. Although I think he may end up regretting not blocking out his face.

If your first move as a 'professional card counter' is to start filming yourself, obviously you are just looking for youtube/ IG followers lol. The real ones stay as anonymous as possible.

It was his last move actually - he filmed these a while ago and only released them recently after finishing all his planned gambling trips.

Filming was a first move since he filmed his learning but releasing them was a late move. I will say that his commentary prior to COVID shutdown made it seem like he might have had plans to count longer.
