This is simply not true, without big multipliers no one makes 6 figures. There are tones of people, most of em are recs, who hit big multipliers and won plenty of dollars, sure. But saying there are dozens of regs making 100k in ev in spins is just a joke. In best case we are talking about 5 guys, sick regs, and maybe max 10 guys with over 80k.

Spins are raked crazy, most of regs, except completely crushers, generating more dollars in rake than dollars they withdraw. Compare this to cash games, mtt or hu hypers. This is a reason why spins are so advertised

Am not making up. There is database, and ask anyone in spins (ask em unofficially, since many regs are in spins marketing business - mostly cause there is not enough money just grinding em)

Lol at industry where you do not have even 10 guys making 100k $

Time has changed, pokerstars has a massive dept now. Is a great idea of bringing new games, suitable for younger generation. However rake will be high. And i bet my whole bankroll there will not be 10 guys making 100k usd per year.

I wish other sites like unibet would step in a game more seriously. However they do not wanna even bring spins to their tables

I heard they PM'd him asking where to send him the cheque for $100K, but the account has been dead for more than two years.

Re: Pokerstars Power Up

It can't be exclaimed enough just how bad something like this is.

-DebtStars will insist on aggro selling those 'powerup's cards decks or whatever they can to losing recs.
Losing players will keep buying them , just to be able to get (buy) a few 'wins' more. Stars don't even need to rakerape (..i want cred for rakerape?) these games like they do every-thing else. They are finding ways to Sell a Win to a fish, and pocket the 100% money. Plus rake.

They are literally coming up with ways to take cash STRAIGHT from fish Providers right to their debt account @Blackstone... instead of growing the game of poker , actively and constantly putting most of their energy and resources into open pushing out and if can just, destroying winning players, max possible. Winning players made poker. The idea that you can make a lot of money if you are the best. Yet the very biggest company keep going straight against the nature, only trying to reverse the basic mechanism of the game to squeeze any penny into their borrowed air and made up 3B$ 'letters' filled pockets. Just to be able to get out and run from the whole thing with as many little pennies they can scavenge. If don't end up in jail lol.

Deviant... as plain insulting as it can get... worth an as aggressive opposition and retribution by anyone in the industry... but yeah lol...

Re: Pokerstars Power Up

You truly believe that ?

Never was really into them but as much as i know most of similar online games, their main source of revenue is the developer selling weapons/ gear/ magic potions / scrolls and similar ''in game purchase stuff''. And in most those games it is a constant debate how good it is for the competition, from game to game how openly can you just Buy some winning. How much you believe Amaya will not just, try to Make As Much Revenue as fast and furiously possible...

But hey it is just yet another new niche harmless spinoff fun game right.

Its not a collectible card game, its poker with powerups, and im guessing pretty heavy rake.

I think.

Re: Pokerstars Power Up

Have they said anything about whether they're selling the in game items? There's no more reason to believe they would sell them than they would sell something like time banks in regular poker games. As far I know it's just a new game with new rules to learn, and I'm looking forward to it both because I like learning new games and because there'll probably be a decent opportunity for profit.

The jury is still out as far as how prohibitive the rake will be structured. For spin n goes the rake isn't even necessarily the problem - it's that 25bb hold em sit n goes are such a simple game that even lousy players aren't making huge mistakes and so that 5-8% rake seems steep. What if each spin was a chess match? Suddenly the 5-8% is negligible for a strong player. And the site can't just raise the rake to cannibalize the edges. Recreational players are less sensitive to changes in rake, but they know it's there and stars will have to choose some price point that doesn't deter people from learning the game.

Re: Pokerstars Power Up

i think there will be no cards to buy for real money, it will just be a 3 or 4 Man sng format where at the beggining everybody has 4 example 10Points to buy cards with, every card costs between 2-5 Points and you can buy as many cards as you want(in this example max five 2Point cards) and you can use everycard only once, its the same principle as hearthstone

I'm guessing they'll only make this available for small stakes, so no real point in getting good at it.

Our team wasn't lacking in experience either, I used to be a highstakes MTT reg(don't play for a living anymore really) and we had other experienced players on the team.

The game was genuinely very interesting, and created a ton of strategic depth. In fact we had to work hard to make sure it wasn't too complicated or unbalanced, and I think we ended up in a good spot.

Also just one more point, we started developing this in 2015 when I came on board and at this point no one had ever heard of HoldemX so this was definitely not any kind of ripoff. I've also played HoldemX and with all due respect I think this game is 10x times better.

Anyways, I really hope this game succeeds. I do also believe there's a market for it. I'm not sure how much I can really talk about it because the NDA but all I can say is that people should give it a shot before dismissing it.

Another game in time the cheaters will be miles, if not years ahead of the security and detection of advanced software/bots. No thanks.

Re: Pokerstars Power Up

From what I saw, it will be a really interesting game, if rake stays the same, it will be able to get a huge margin, since even bad regs/semi-fish are able to avoid losing much money vs good regs in NLHE. If you add more complexity to the game, edges are increased by a lot.

If you're a good gamer, this is a game changer: better regs who kept studying for years will have a smaller edge over you, your edge over fish will huge, and bad regs may be crushed. Of course, it will take some time to learn how to play the game and to get good at it, won't be a problem for those who play mtg/hearthstone tho.

My concern is that in order to use those power-ups, you will have to pay extra rake, then it will be beyond terrible lol.

I've moved a lot of my playing time to unibet. In the past 3 months I went from gold star back to bronze Star on pokerstars. And I play rarely on Stars at all. I support companies who promote poker not silly games that hide the rake.

Re: Pokerstars Power Up

I think this is taking things too far to the point where it's not even Poker anymore. There's more conventional things they could do to increase action and make the game more fun. Like running crazy hour on the cash tables where you play 72, win the button, 4 card flops and whatever else.

Also, there's other traditional card games they could add beyond Poker which could liven things up. I know a couple of games I played since first starting gambling years ago which would be great for an online setting. Fun and easy to pick up games but which have depth and skill which would give good players an edge.

Re: Pokerstars Power Up

Wonder if it will be buy-in sng based? Or a cash game style somehow?

Rake going to be worse than micro HU is at the moment though, that's for sure. Gotta get that development money back and show their shareholders they are a great company!! (**** players ldo)

Why would they choose to rake it so high? All these new poker forms have such high rake. Make it more reasonable so it doesn't kill the games.

Re: Pokerstars Power Up

I'm probably a little biased because I quite enjoy strategy games. I think this could potentially be a fun and enjoyable game. However, I don't really think it's going to be implemented in such a way that people could play for income like actual poker. Seems like the target audience is the micro stakes fish and gamers who don't play poker, so I would imagine it's going to be confined to the micro/low stakes. Although, iirc, when Spin & Gos first came out, plenty of regs were adamant that there was no way it could be profitable.

Maybe on Stars, anyway. If something is going to kill online poker in its entirety, it's probably not going to be this.

edit: forgot to add, if there are microtransactions involved with this, then I take back anything positive I might say about it.
