You know what is interesting is that the world chess federation, or whatever it's called, is now posting up a pretty big prize pool for random chess as a first to spice up the game. I think that kind of thing is great.

Smokedtruth, I agree with you to the extent that some things should probably change in the future, but you can't really dictate what that will be. The big problem with a game like power up is the learning curve. The more simple the rules are the easier it is to propagate. Random chess is very easy propagation because everyone already knows the rules. No future explanation needed. Power-up I'd be very confused for quite some time if I ever got into it.

But it's kind of a push-pull because more simple rules lead to less bot-resistance, nuance, etc. Mostly, I'd just say to have things put out there and see what sticks or what doesn't stick. But I do think that power-up was a good idea overall, whether or not it works in the short term.

People aren't going to pay hundreds of dollars per month in rake to play a new game no one plays, when there are many cheap great games available.

That's completelly delusional. Now if you started to offer many millions in prizes in televised tournament games, or have asian millionaires playing against high rollers (like in short deck) maybe that will stick better. But still short deck is a game of poker more easily relatable. Don't expect regular folks to pay hundreds for a new card game on stars when they can play hearthstone or games like that for free or a few bucks to buy new cards. It's a completelly different business model than the gambling industry

I think recreationals players are not having much issue with the learning curve, im seeing some of the worst players in all poker at those tables. They like the gimmicks, the visual and sound effects, and the colors, or so it seems. As for me as a reg, I lost some money at first thinking I had it figured it out to early, but even then I craved to play again, and im thrilled every time with the game even at its hyper turbo format as there is nothing in poker that gives me such deep thinking satisfaction. Im not trying to sound arrogant, figuring it out NLH does require deep thinking, but once you do it bwcomes much more about base line strategy than outthinking opponents. With Power Up there is more of the later.

I hope this gains attention, we dont know if it will succeed or fail yet

There's one disadvantage that negates all the advantages: Power Up is slooow.
