I mean, I don't defend MadLee, but this whole MTT staking system seems to me like an insane freeroll for the stakers. They basically put their players in high variance spots, the ones who realize a profit they get a share, the ones in makeup are ****ed and have to grind either all their life the $ back or have to pay personally for it. So the stakers basically always win.
But yeah, if someone agrees to these terms, I guess it's his own fault.

Yeah I've never really understood the whole makeup thing. It makes sense for the horse not to be able to walk away with ton of makeup, but at the same time, it seems ******ed that horse should pay 100% of makeup if he wants to leave. This is just a massive freeroll for the stakers.

You realize that makeup is money that the horse is down right? The staker's money. The horse should be allowed to quit at some point and not owe the entirety of the makeup and I think alot of contracts are set out in that way but by quit i mean quit poker, not resume a separate stake in cash games and act like all is forgotten starting again in a clean slate essentially screwing over the previous backer.

Also, I'm not surprised he turned out to be an MTT player stuck in heavy makeup. He was such a self righteous "know it all" prick in all the high stakes threads even before he started playing high stakes. So much dumb money gets put down on such inferior talent in the staking world. I guess if you have such a loud mouth you'll eventually be able to convince someone you can play this game. Condolences to his previous backer.

I expect them to come in midway through a month so that stars can screw players out of 100's of $K in rakeback by only paying out 50% of their latest step like the end of the month.

Well, you, of all others, know that there are quite a bit of breakeven regulars on z100 and z200. If they quit, pools gonna be much smaller. And you also know that there are quite a bit of gambling recreationals that loose tonns and still come to our games 3-4 times a week. Now imagine that the next time they come it's going to be much less play for them and only top regulars. I doubt they will like it.

MTT staking is a complete sham and the "industry standard" terms are no different than signing into slavery. Play lower and play on your own.

There are no risk free investments in any business. Why should poker be any different? When buying stocks in a company investors know that they can lose their money but poker stakers seem to not want to accept any risk and would like to turn the "horses" (what a ****ty term too) into slaves in order to cheat the system.

They'll likely be the same. However Starscoin are never going to increase in value so there's no benefit to holding on to them, there's always the possibility that Stars will devalue them (or remove cash rewards) arbitrarily, why take the chance?

I've been saving the coins as insurance in case I lose a lot of money. It helps knowing that I have something to fall back on.

As far as I understand the StarsCoin system will not change at all. VIP shop will still be exactly the same StarsCoins will still have the same value, the only thing that will change is that you'll get way less of them.

Sure, but given the volatility of the RB system right now, it makes absolutely no sense to hoard these starscoins. It's fairly safe to say they will only go down in value.

I would be very suprised (even nowadays) of the coins would drop in value.
Nor do I think Stars would disable the ability to convert them into cash without a warning first. Some interesting tourneys (added value) pop up once in while that can only be entered with coins, so I don't see any reason for MTT players to ditch them atm.

We were thinking in this exact same way before Amaya shafted SNEs in 2016 without any warning. It took a lot of public backlash to have them reverse the changes. Players grinded for the entire year to achieve SNE and were told shortly after that SNE would be discontinued. Saying something like this will never happen again is ignorant at best, if not foolish.
