Of course, grinders will be unhappy and make their opinions known on forums like this. But poker sites should not be catering to grinders.
Posts like this are painful. At least read it properly, and try to understand the whole thing first.
It's just bad for poker as a whole.

Losing players come to rb/stars thread to troll the winners. They want to get back @ the winners somehow. They love poker but hate the regs, just like they hate the books for crushing them and hate the casinos for crushing them. They can't really trash talk casinos/books so they come here and do it.
I just pay them no attn.

so sad...but was always going to end like this...doing what casinos for the last 100 years have being doing...using poker to get casino/sportsbook punters...this time it was a genius idea...just buy the best pokersite in the world, push their huge database of players onto the casino/sportsbook...profits and shares will rise...online poker will be dead in 5 years...online gaming will be daed in 10....

This should be the most scary thing IMO and I don't know why anyone didn't bring this up.
If my comprehension is correct, they could value winners and losers differently. i.e. you can be a supernova loser and have 30% or you can be a supernova winner and get 5%
This actually reminds me those days when ongame (rip) come up w/ that essence system. If you were a losing player you would get bigger rb and vice versa winning players smaller. Well what happened was that every single rb deal dropped min 20% no matter if you were a winning or losing player. Used to have 55% flat and started getting solid 20% back. And imo it was calculated like in three months periods.

That is wery good system for the site. You can just say we use this formula to calculate the rb for you and nobody has a clue how they actually do that. I think ipoker have something similar allso atm.

Companies with good news for their customers typically release that information on a Friday right after business hours so that it receives the maximum amount of exposure from journalists.

You can't say it's bad for poker when it's better for the people that actually pay for there to be a game.

Recs will have to deal with less regs and higher reward rates without volume. This is a positive effect on the majority of poker players.

The problem you have is that is at your expense, and the truth of the matter is that recs deserve to be courted more than you do.

Lol? Ofc you can.

Lets make all poker 1bb max so there are no net withdrawers, that is good for the depositor so it's "good for the game" right?

Bovada and Merge are the absolute proof that rewards are meaningless for recs. Both sites have as many recs on each table as regs and offer no rewards.

I'm glad the California poker bill was held up by this great company.

Actually the opposite is true. Friday is always when you release information that will be viewed negatively on you.

the whole idea is to keep the money in play longer so it can be raked more.

If a rec loses his deposit quickly, other players got the bulk of it

If a rec loses his deposit slowly, then the house's take increases

Confirmed, few accounts I know super nova received nothing, yet. Have to say, continues to astound me how unprofessional these people have become, to not release a professional statement after Holreiser's "could have done more" farce last year. There seems to be a massive lack of leadership.

Hey thanks HK - if this new system were really something for recs to get excited about, would have expected them to want to share the news with us as soon as possible? So that's kind of a red flag this is might not be great for casual players either ...

They talk about rewarding *recent* play - it makes it sound like maybe if people don't complete a level within a certain time frame, they might wind up with fewer to no rewards? Guess will have to wait for more details to see how different things are from what they're like now ...

Gosh, wonder how many people will be playing cash this time next year - maybe the numbers'll be down as low as 9k? May not be playing myself by then ...

That's not at all what is happening. The reward system is moving more toward rec players. Right now regs get way better rewards per dollar of take paid. That's not really fair all things considerered. Net depositors should get better rewards.

Ya probably, but that certainly doesn't mean that everything that is good for recs is good for poker. And i think it's incredibly naive to argue that this is anything but stars trying to make sure that they get an even bigger cut of player deposits, improving their already ridiculous EBITDA in the short term instead of improving their product. If they truly wanted their recs to do better they would invest in new games that experienced players don't have as much of an established edge in, or reduce third party software or a dozen other things.

I think we should be a bit more open-minded about these changes as we don't yet know the full story and are just jumping to a lot of negative assumptions. But I have to agree this year that the retention (and hence enjoyment) of recreational players has certainly improved this year, but unfortunately it comes at the expense of grinders - sadly grinders are the minority here so may just have to take it on the chin.

As a rec player i find the changing from one bonus program to another confusing. From a play point of view from the lowest level that I am the rewards feel like they are not like they used to be for us too. So all this rec's will be happy is untrue. I and a lot of my friends moved to 888, party and so on. The only good thing about stars is/was the player pool numbers.

Improved for recs says who? All my rec friends have either QUIT or drastically reduced play because they are sick of hearing about BOTS, advanced HUDS, table scripts, and they see how management mislead SNE and were sneaky dishonest. The freeroll was also a joke and all the bonuses are a joke meant to award infinite amounts of insignificant amounts as to never be cashed out, ever.

How is anyone with half a brain and one eye making these comments, it's so stupid. None of the changes benefit recs either boss, wake up.Name one change that benefits me? 500$ added free rolls that have 15000 players in them with a 50$ first prize? 1M freeroll with 10k payout and 25k 2$'s thats harder to win than being struck by lightening.

That's just one small sample. I have rec friends who have actually been loving the new 2016 changes.

There have been some negative changes (rake increase for instance) but also plenty of positive changes at least for the majority of recs. For instance, the new "VIP Steps" bar looks a lot cleaner and more easy to understand for my rec friends. They discovered that their deposits are lasting longer (after some grinders quit due to the rakeback cuts) so hence they said they are "getting more out of their money" for a more enjoyable overall playing experience. They also enjoyed the million dollar freerolls and felt priveleged to be given an opportunity to take part. It does seem fairer now that everyone can take part (as opposed to being reserved for the biggest winners), and one of my friends won a hundred dollars in one of them which was a nice way to pad his bankroll.
