At the outset, let me say these are probably ideas others have had, in which case I'm not trying to take credit for thinking of them. I'm just hoping to spur some debate, which, although I don't have my ears to the ground to the extent I used to, I believe has not occurred here.

Most probably would agree that in tournaments which have shot clocks, time extensions are fair and also add some drama in terms of the TV audience. Why not take the concept further though?

I envision each player in a major tournament (how major is defined is up for debate) getting a set number of "run it twice" chips or tokens, which, once there is an all in and a call, can be played in order to have board run out twice. A wrinkle could be that if someone plays their "run it twice" chip but another player responds by playing one of his or hers, then that negates the run it twice privilege.

Players also could be given a set number of "show your hand" chips, which can be utilized when a pot is won before showdown in order to see the winning players hand. The chip would be played upon folding, so the winning player cannot muck his or her hand to avoid showing. There too, perhaps the other player can respond by playing one of his or her own "show your hand" chips to negate the privilege.

I'm not saying these would be right for all tourneys; but for major ones, especially those that are televised, I'm thinking this would add a layer of drama and interest for the viewer, plus perhaps even be embraced by the players themselves.

Thoughts?

take it or leave it imo. I'd prob play in those tourneys, but it's not like a "someone get on this asap" feeling.

Here's where the viewers get the excitement from, there's an all-in and a call, Joe Nobody needs an ace or a club on the river to survive AND IT'S AN ACE, HE DOUBLES THROUGH DOUCHEBAG GTO PRO WHO SHOWS NO EMOTION THROUGH HIS SUNGLASSES

But wait, douchebag GTO pro has used his run it twice chip, our underdog hasn't doubled up yet, and yes, the pro wins the second pot and they've stolen half the antes each and wasted a minute of our time where nothing's happened

Every card deck does have a joker inside. Time to implement that cards into the game instead of throwing the poor jokers in the trash!

I wouldn't mind seeing major tournament series experiment with various gimmicky stuff in their side events.

There's no harm in having a $1500 WSOP or EPT side event where players are forced to show their cards after they won a hand or use jokers/wild cards or have deuces wild and things like that. If you're not interested in playing that, just don't.

I wouldn't implant any of that in 'regular' no limit Hold'em tournaments though.

Also should have a "swap me" token where you can put your hole cards on the board in exchange for two community cards. That'll be fun!

They should also have a change game token, where a player can instantly switch to PLO, go fish, uno etc. However if the whole table puts in their token, it switches back to holdem.
