manual rebuys still work but you can't do it in advance, so have to play the next hand with a sub 100bb stack. ****ing great job lads.

And by doing this they just ruin it for 100% of the UK player base. Why not just outright ban everything people can abuse? Alcohol, cars etc.

Lol, I don't even understand how that helps anything, a gambling addict will find a way to gamble all his money regardless, preventing them from auto rebuying just delays that process a tiny bit.

Reminds me of how on the legal betting sites in some states you have to click a box ackowledging your life time deposits have exceeded 2500 dollars- as though some problem gambler who has lost his family and house is gonna see this box and quit gambling.

With some dilligence and laborious manual clicking, you can limit the effect of this slightly, but as far as I am aware, if you start the hand with 100bb's and you bet the river and get called and lose, or someone else bets and you call and lose, then the next hand you will be playing with less than 100bb's as there is no time for you to top up the extra chips you would have lost on the river.

Also, if you are in the BB say, and you jam the river all-in or call an all-in and lose, then you are felted, you can't play immediately in the SB and so you lose your SB and BTN seat and have to rebuy in the CO seat and post an extra SB or wait for the BB to come around again, so this harms your win rate when you are forced to lose orbits like this after already paying the BB. The auto-rebuy function helped make sure that this didn't happen to you in the past, so this really sucks for UK players as they now have a clear disadvantage at the tables.

That sucks. Governments need to stop trying to micro manage poker. This could really cause someone to lose even more than just keeping auto rebuy on, if they don't understand how to play the smaller stack size. (ex: they lose 50bb and now are forced in to playing a 50bb stack for one hand, but have no idea how to adjust to a 50bb stack) LOL.

Also, I think basically every single time you get felted you lose at least one free hand while you are auto-sat out with your d*ck in your hand. For example, if you get felted in the CO, then you miss the very next hand you would have been dealt in the HJ. That is a best case scenario, as when you are felted in the BB of course, it is even worse.

This ruling really sucks.

Again with an unbelievably stupid regulation by people who don't understand how the game works thinking or hoping for good PR that they are helping prevent problem gambling? **** off honestly

This just seems like absolute stupidity. Won't do anything to prevent problem gamblers, but will only piss off regs and recs alike.

This is from eight years ago and Stars and the UKGC agreed that it didn't need to apply to poker, so some jobsworth has decided to ignore that agreement:

We have had a response from the UKGC and I think it is good news.

I am though seeking some clarification. I think it says rebuys/top ups will be ok for now so long as players behaviour is monitored and that it will be consulted upon when the whole Remote Tchnical Standard is consulted upon (soonish). I only had 90 mins warning before it went on the UKGC blog so could not get clarification before it went live.

http://licensingadvertisingact.blogs...uto-rebuy.html

42 Can licence holders offer auto-rebuy in online poker? RTS14 implementation guidance says auto-rebuy should not be provided.
The RTS is structured in such a way as to include a ‘requirement’ which must be met as well as ‘implementation guidance’ that licence holders should comply with or find another means of meeting the overall aim and requirement of the remote technical standards (further details below).

In the case of RTS14 (page 24 of the pdf) the licence holder can either:

(a) not offer automatic-rebuys, or
(b) if they do offer auto-rebuys they ensure that other protection mechanisms are in place.

For example, we would expect licensees to effectively implement other responsible gambling measures that are intended to protect players from harm. This means an operator is expected to monitor the play of their customers and, if unusual or excessive gambling activity occurred, the operator should take appropriate action.

In future we are planning to review RTS and we may seek to make this more explicit and/or consider specific controls around auto-rebuy, for example, player pre-set financial limit on their cumulative value.

But for present purposes licence holders would comply with RTS 14 if they offer auto-rebuy provided other player protection measure are effectively implemented.

We appreciate in many cases the poker provider will be B2B and will therefore (as required in licence condition 3.1.1 (4)) need to agree with their B2Cs how to monitor players and their use of auto-rebuy.

One of the issues we will be looking at when licensing operators or determining applications from those with continuation licences will be their player protection arrangements.

An RTS ‘requirement’ is mandatory whereas RTS ‘implementation guidance’ is guidance as to how to comply with the requirement.

Operators may adopt alternative approaches to those set out in implementation guidance if they have actively taken account of the guidance and can demonstrate that an alternative approach is reasonable and would be similarly effective.

Comments welcome.

can anyone test this and get himself stacked at a regular table and see if he can immediately rebuy next hand or not?

It happened to me earlier when I got stacked and had no chance to rebuy until two hands later. There is no function in the software where it pauses and says ''waiting for players to sort out rebuys before the next hand will be dealt'' or words to that effect; instead it just instantly deals the next hand the moment the previous hand has finished, and if you miss out a hand, (or an entire orbit), as a result of this, then tough sh*t.

This really is an awful change and hopefully it gets reversed as poker requires the ability to be able to play consecutive hands, even if you get stacked on the first hand.

Also if the Government are so intent on helping problem gamblers. Why not allow people to rathole instead of being forced to play over 100bb deep? Forcing people to risk more at once is more of a problem than stopping auto rebuy.

Is anyone aware of any new regulations in the UK? I have spent a good 20 minutes on the UKGC website and I can't find anything. It seems to be purely Pokerstars' doing for reasons I can't fathom.

At any rate, this is a stupid decision. If it is just Pokerstars, they are offering their UK player pool to their competitors on a silver platter. If these are new UK laws then it will drive players to unregulated poker sites.

I am going to contact Pokerstars next but I am not holding much hope.
