really enjoyed this event. the coverage was entertaining (everything looked great, and I like stapes)

even if its a little contrived (free 35k passes) it made it seem like the POKER DREAM is still alive

was refreshing to see a normal people slugging it out for big $ instead of swapping GTO robots

very glad zeejustin made it nowhere near the final table

I was rooting for Rivera. He´s a class act. Every time someone was knocked out, he got up out of his chair and went to shake hands. None of the others even bothered to stand up.

Stapes did good. They're selling this hard for next year I think .... did you notice how Stapes got the translater to include "Alot of the players were saying this is the most important tournament in history" as part of the winner's interview ... how much we gonna bet Stapes fed him that line during prep?

From the point of view of a spectating poker fan, this event was a rousing success. Lots of money donated by Stars with the platinum passes and free rake. Tremendous turnout and huge prize pool. Full streaming cards-up coverage from the start of day 1 to conclusion. Shot clock to minimize stalling when the money got serious. No tablets or sunglasses. Good structure that was super deep at the start, and later wasn't agonizingly slow.

I think it did a great job re-capturing some of the best of the spirit of the old Main Event, when the usual gang of pros faced off with large numbers of mid-stakes and recreational players, there was palpable fun being had at the tables, and there was a real sense that anyone could win $5 million. I hope it becomes a regular event that continues to be done just this way.

The Evil Empire basically did everything right with this event, and I think all would agree it was a huge success and "good for poker" .

Raidalots bust out was so painful to watch. I dont know him but he comes across as being pretty centered so seemed to take it well. I think that runout would have caused me to head to beach and swim out to sea until I drowned myself

+1. I'm not the biggest fan of stars in recent years but, credit where it is due, this event is a positive for the game and is a win-win for both stars and players. I hope they repeat next year (hearing Barcelona possible).

That's a nice story for the media but... really far from the truth. Ramón Colillas is a Spanish pro and just in 2018 won three major live tourneys in Spain for €55k and the other two for €30k+ I think. That's how he topped the two leaderboards of the national circuits and won the platinum pass + a ME ticket for the WSOP 2019 too. He's crushing or having a Justin Bonomo hot run Online he also won a big one for €22k on Stars. So... the whole $11k in lifestime cashes... lol still a nice story and was rlly cool when Moneymaker congratulated him.

I'm not making it up, he's Mr. Boxes on stars.es you can check his online results full of nice cashes for the last few years; and if you google his name you'll find a few news articles about his wins in 2018 at CEP and CNP tournaments. I think they fcked it up because in Hendon appears under incomplete names and has different profiles created which should be unified into one. Or that... or they wanted to artificially created the new Moneymaker lol dunno

Many of the winners of the platinum passes were poker pros. Anyway this was a very good tournament, and an entertaining event to watch on stream. Pokerstars instead of spending millions in developing games that almost no one plays, like power up, promote events like this and good tournaments series.

If they did some promotions around cash games, like they did for example with All stars, with leaderboards and prizes, reduced rake to start tables between regulars. Really, it's not rocket science, they have great software and security why don't they want games to run even if there are regular winners who withdraw constantly? That's the point, sell the dream of high stakes, that you can still climb the ladder, since the dream of winning an entry to a big event is still doing great because they promote and invest in it.

Outside of feelings on Chino's integrity (or lack thereof) omg he is fun to watch. I can't tell if his strategy is just reckless, mindless aggro button clicking or something more.

Also, Berkey's folding flopped full house on river, was crazy cool hand. Would love to see him go all the way just to observe his play.
