Limon is live right now on PFA radio telling the Dog Puke story and calling Druff a mongoloid.

He is a little drunk.

I'm not sure Limon was "ahead of the curve" on any of these things, a lot of people have said all of these things around here for as long as I can remember. I could go through each example but to think that in each case the majority of the community here thought so different than what your saying Limon thought seems flat out untrue.

As far as the $500/hr thing, I dont get the chance to play a lot of live so I'm not sure how crazy that claim is, or if many around here made it. I'd imagine the truth is online cash game pros think they would murder most mid stakes live games after some experience, and to me it's completely obvious that they're right. Laziness, proximity to good live games, better things to do, and not being able to handle the tedium and slowness of games are probably the reasons online poker players haven't came to take over, that is if they haven't already and you're in denial about that too. Lets compare, how many online taught players have went on to crush live? How many primarily live players crush online?

I mean "LOL at paying for coaching", calling all online players "Aspergey kiddies", diehard admiration for this poker media version of Trump, you guys are really dinosaurs, feel bad for you.

If the majority agreed with him, they must have been a silent majority or a minority. Here's a post he made in 2009 about cheating before several of the string of cheating scandals broke and there was always someone around to either disagree with it or downplay the possibilities:

You pretty much answered the question and proved why Limon was right about this as well. Online players generally DON'T transition to live because they can't handle or choose not to handle the obstacles that it takes to be successful live: only playing 30 hands an hour, driving to the casino, making the social adjustments, etc.

Well, there probably haven't been many live players making claims that they can play online and crush like there have been online players who claim they can crush live. Limon talked about that in one of his podcasts with Bart. The gist of it was he said, "why would I worry about something that's not going to happen?" He doesn't worry about beating Jungleman headsup online because it's not going to happen. Limon has always claimed to be the best player in HIS game and from what I've gathered, there's ALWAYS a seat available or at least a list where players can play him if they think they are better. Limon and most good players just worry about being the best in the games they care about.

In general, for the same stakes, online play IS much harder than live because, as Limon pointed out many years ago and the first to point it out so far as I can tell, the good players can multiply and the fish don't stand a chance. In live play, the sharks get ONE seat at ONE table. The fish still lose, but it's not as brutal. Because online is more "difficult" at the same stakes, online players have a chip on their shoulders. But, at the end of the day, good live players have put in the time and mastered the skills to be successful at their game. Online players may or may not have the skillset to ALSO be successful but unless a player plans to make the transition, it's just speculation. If such a player doesn't want to put in the time to be successful, then they can't take the easy way out and say "well, I could be a good live player, I just don't like playing one table for 30 hands an hour". THAT is part of being successful live. If you can't do that, you're not a good live player.

Saying that an online crusher could beat live for X dollars but don't because they can't stand the tedium of live poker completely missed the point.

depends on which point

for online players poker ability = playing poker well

for live players poker ability = playing poker ok-ish + enduring boredom + chatting up the marks

Online and live are two totally different games. Need much more patience live and its a hard crossover if coming from online.

Former online pros took over commerce. Some of this post is okay but former online crushers are definitely crushing 10/20++ at the biggest poker casinos in the world.

Re: Pokersesh with Limon RIP??

The best poker players in the world are playing primarily online.

The best live poker players in the world are playing primarily live.

Limon is a boor who sometimes gives good advice on live play, but suffers from derangement by way of either alcohol, ego or both

Everything I wrote above is incontrovertible.

Re: Pokersesh with Limon RIP??

Live poker IS poker actually. Online is an electronic version of poker. Some folks do both very well certainly, but there are two different skill sets to be mastered before you can excell in both. Some folks manage it , most don't and stay where they are comfortable, live games at the casino/underground or at the computer. One is not superior to the other, just different animals, just like cash games and tournaments are different. There is certainly room for all of it.

Limon was often entertaining and informative to me. He was also often clownish , redundant , and abrasive. Kind of like a lot of folks.

I would like to see any sort of stats to back this up, I'm far from a fanboy of ANY poker player but Doug is a phenomenal NL player in any setting, live or online.

I'm not criticizing your asking for proof of his assertion, but I hope you do realize you provided zero stats for your own also pertaining to live poker...

I was basing it on the assumption Doug is not perceived as a fish in live games. I do understand your point of view and I could have wrote it differently.
