His twitter feed became so unhinged there was nothing else to stick around for. Can't imagine Pokersesh was much better of late?
+1

I don't know how much he bet on this election but i think it's a good guess to say quite a bit. Even though it probably wasn't a big hit to his br, it was a YUUUUUGE hit to his ego. This election put millions and millions of people on some sort of life tilt (myself included) without even betting on the election.

I've listened to some of his recent shows, and the way he talks about poker/gambling combined with his alcohol use + chain smoking cigars (at least on the show) paints a very buyers remorse/ depressed view on the career path he chose. I think it was simply a matter of time before he blew up/ couldn't take it anymore. I think he should just give the middle finger to the gambling world and peace out before he blows off his net worth/health.

I mean there are ****ing loads of longtime pro gamblers who got to that point and couldn't peace out and they ended up broke not just financially. hope he figures it out.

Yeah but to be fair, this is probably the business model they're gonna chase going forward, getting famous people to come play in their games. The open question is whether this is sustainable and other celebrities will want to play on LATB on a consistent basis.

Re: Pokersesh with Limon RIP??

Limon was often hard to take and often just disruptive , BUT he also had some very good observations about poker AND some poker players. When he was under some control he was a total asset to LATB and could be almost a comic genius at times. However, it was obvious that things were going downhill and the negatives were overwhelming the positives IMHO. LATB is less a good show without him at his best , BUT his best side was becoming rarer over the last several months. Something unfortunate has happened and this result is likely for the best.

Re: Pokersesh with Limon RIP??

Before the poker sesh blowup i respected limon and would look forward to late night LATB streams (i live in uk). When ever limon was on i found it pretty hilarious and light hearted with good poker knowledge interspersed. i would probably even not watch if limon was not commentating. THAT said, i can see how his style is not professional and LATB would be best served by not using him all the time (using people like feldman for the most part etc). Anyway yeh that rant really turned me off him. 1. chill out hes a bit late. 2. his logic i thought was flawed from the beginning. he was acting as though he was a total random whale with no poker knowledge. he deffo didnt care about losing heads up and probs has the bankroll but he certainly not a 'fish'. over one session of heads up anything can happen. yeah over 10000 hand polk would crush limon but were talking about one live session. limon could have crushed polk!? polk himself says he starts out with GTO fundamentals before adjusting to someone - adjusting takes a bit of time. his rant was certainly crazy but i dont think hes mentally ill just going through a mid life crisis and probs shud cut down on the booze if he is drinkin too much

Re: Pokersesh with Limon RIP??

also i think he was unfair to polk during his rant insinuating that he had success through 'putting no work in' etc. and polk clearly understands poker ecology being nice to recreationals etcetc common sense. there were some utter morons aswel ringing up during the show to offer limon condolences and to reinforce his views (i think one dude from florida) i was like give me a **** break. i did however find all of this wildly entertaining, polk coming on twitch aswell bewildered, im so sad for staying up til 6am to watch it lolololl

Re: Pokersesh with Limon RIP??

When egos collide (add booze).

I'm a big fan of Doug's content. But it sounds like he was a bit unprofessional with LATB, which made him come across (justifiably or not) as entitled.

I kind of remember SrslySrs at one point mentioning how impressed he was by Phil Helmuth's professionalism wrt media. If Srsly works closely with Doug now (which has tremendously increased the value (see: engagement) of his videos. I hope he impresses upon Doug the need to act professionally and live up to your commitments. Doug, you didn't really need that haircut lol.

I've been on LATB, and have had a beer or two with Limon and played a bit with him. Limon has a tremendous amount of knowledge and intelligence that would benefit almost anyone. I really enjoyed chatting with him. He understands how to make a living at poker, which is different than saying he's the best player (I think he'd be the first to say this).

That said, it's obvious that he overreacted to what he perceived as a slight from Doug. If he's involvement in LATB is over, it's a big loss to the brand and its customers. I hope he didn't make the decision in a knee-jerk reaction to that debacle with Doug. I hope LATB didn't do the same, but my hunch is it was Limon's decision.

Anyway, just my unsolicited two-cents.

Keep up the great work Doug, and I look forward to having another beer with Limon sometime soon.

Re: Pokersesh with Limon RIP??

Both of them are very high volatile people.

I thought Polk was pretty cool until the thing with Ben Tollerene. Whether he was right or wrong, outing the guy that way was not cool. Actually kinda whiny. What it showed was that Polk can be a real d*ck in an OCD type of way.

Limon, being loud and obnoxious, was his schtick. Unfortunately he finally went overboard and out of control.

Right now not sure which one I can't stand more. Probably Polk, cuz it felt like he was trolling, sorta the same thing with Ben. I don't buy the excuse that being late was unintentional.

Re: Pokersesh with Limon RIP??

LATB and limon never admitted it but I think they bundled Poker Sesh in with everything partially to get more money out of the Limon fans who didn't care much about the rest of the channel. It used to be $10 a month for only Poker Sesh.

I don't think it will be worth my $200 a year without any limon commentary since I don't have time to watch many shows on video and don't care too much about getting better at poker. LATB is mostly an entertainment purchase to me, if I have time to watch a few videos and get a couple tips it is a bonus.

No, just no. Limon - without knowing much about him - didn't make a good impression on me here on 2+2 and i'm not very sureprised to see him banned. Doug seems like a nice guy, so it's a clear Doug 1 : 0 Limon for me.

I unsubbed yesterday. It has nothing to do with "supporting Limon" as an earlier poster insinuated as he is likely still a part-owner.

He was just by far (for me) the most interesting/entertaining voice there. Yes he could get a bit crazy, and his antics rubbed some people the wrong way, but at least he was interesting.

LOL, not sure if serious, but my experience with Phil has been the exact opposite. I probably said something like that about Negreanu, who is exceptionally courteous to media and fans alike.

Are the people calling him an alcoholic just basing this off the Pokersesh? I don't think his drinking there is out of control. I don't even know how drunk he is on them, I think he acts that way even without alcohol.
a lot of nerds hate on people with a drinking genetic gift....its the worst kind of racism out there because there are many legitimate reasons to drink and it crosses all race, family and ethnic barriers....

Woops, it must have been another person in the media on 2+2. But their experience was different than yours.

Regardless, my point stands and Negs would be another good example. Perhaps no one has made more off their personal brand than Negs. Obviously, Doug is looking to grow his brand, and he'd be wise to follow DNegs example.

Keep up the good work.

Exactly. I would never have subscribed if not for the sesh.

Re those speculating he will show up on youtube, I would be surprised if his buyout did not have a long no compete agreement

Re: Pokersesh with Limon RIP??

Also curious how Limon came to become part owner of LATB. I only know that it was started by an Asian family, seems like a hard sell to get offered to by into an already successful card room.

And if he's able to do this, I think we'll see a new and much improved Limon.

I agree with this. I like Limon and want to root for him, but it's hard to root for someone that you see treat people like crap on these forums. Correct me if I'm wrong but in the past few months he's been banned from 2plus2 twice, had his twitter account suspended, and has now been kicked off LATB. Hopefully a little time off will allow him to be introspective so he can resolve his issues and come back stronger than ever.

But I am not apologizing for the pokersesh. I was not told "Be there at x time". I was told it started at x time, and I assumed it was the same format of people calling in. Not to mention, I got guilt tripped into it to begin with, because after I accepted playing Limon hu, he then decided he would only do it if I came on his show.

Part of the reason I didnt want to go on his show, was because I knew I had to drive to LA the next day and had content I had to make, but I did it anyway because he wanted it. The fact I was 20 min "late" for a time I was never told I had to be there at and was treated like that was totally unacceptable.
Doug and I discussed this multiple times, and I took responsibility for not making it clear to Doug to call in right at 7pm. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it. I also didn't know that it would be that big of a deal if he called in a few minutes late. This wasn't Doug's fault at all. Whatever, this is over with. Doug was awesome to work with and hang out with, and we truly appreciate him spending a few days with us and #MakingPokerGreatAgain.

For those who have already or are thinking of unsubscribing just because Limon/PokerSesh is gone -- I suggest you guys wait a bit to see the commentators and show(s) we add. We're not just going to keep LATB as is, minus Limon. We're going to improve our talent and bring in some people/shows that I imagine most of you will be very happy about. So please just ride it out and see if you like the changes/improvements/additions.

Re: Pokersesh with Limon RIP??

History lesson:

Ulvis Alberts came down to the bike one time. He found Abe Lemon sitting there, on a cool 100K. just waiting to snap a guy off.

Like Johnny Moss before him, Lemon takes on all comers. They even leave a table open for him at the front, should anyone take him up on it.

Along came a man, named Doug Polk. He challenged Lemon to a match. A duel. A battle of nit-wits. 10k, heads up. Winner takes all.

They played for 5 years, before finally, Lemon had enough. He called it quits. At 4:20 PM, exactly 5 years to the minute the first hand was dealt, Abe Lemon got up from the table, dusted off his crusty golf shirt. Removed his sunglasses, and reached across the table, and shook Dougs hand.

"Mr Polk, I have to let you go." were the famous words uttered that day. it was glorious.
