I'm the worlds biggest Limon fanboy, but I seriously doubt Polk is anything but a live crusher, and would love to see evidence to the contrary.

no they aren't, its the same game, this is just a little story live poker players tell themselves to make themselves feel special.

Limon was often entertaining and informative to me. He was also often clownish , redundant , and abrasive. Kind of like a lot of folks.
One you see a bagillion times more hands in a lot more competitive atmosphere where u have to actually study and really try off the table as well as on to win, as far as actually being good at NLHE or whatever game yes one is clearly superior to the other. I'm not saying being a killer at higher stakes live games is easy, but come on, the fact that this is even debated around here by people with a lot of posts is fairly mind bending.

I have no earthly Idea what you are ranting about, but have a nice day anyway. BTW what's being debated anyway? I thought it was Limon.

Doug has an amazing poker mind but I wouldn't call him a live crusher. Dude is a huge tell box.

He's saying that online players who beat beat the toughest games in the world are still able to win when they play in softer live games, which sounds good in theory, but if it were true, why is Doug coaching and making youtube comedy videos?

live hourly is is dog**** and you spend the entire time in soulsucking disgusting casinos. there is no comparison in that regard. you make videos and coach to not have to grind online as much. both of those options are still better then playing live.

so many has been delusional live players itt

Hi gregorio:

Doug and I had a covnversation not to long ago where something we agreed upon may answer your question. It's always been my opinion that in most cases, if you're smart enough to beat poker at a pretty good clip, then there's a good chance you're also smart enough to make even more money at something else, usually business related.

I believe Doug Polk is now in the early stages of doing this and also believe he (and the rest of the Upswing crew) will be very successful. Time will tell but it would be interesting to come back to this exact question in let's say five years.

Best wishes,
Mason

Jeez, I was just kidding Pokersesh with Limon RIP?? . Doug is probably a favorite in any live NL game in the world, except perhaps some imaginary game stacked with OtB_RedBaron and the next 8 best high stakes online ring players. Plus he's really outgoing and friendly and it seems like he'd be fun for rec players to have at the table. In his last video he even talks about the importance of straddling despite it being -EV since it's good for the game. The notion that top online players couldn't crush live games if they wanted to is absurd.

Mason, I agree. The top poker players are very smart and hard working and would be very successful in any field that interested them for which they have any aptitude.

In live poker, like most pursuits, it's the want and desire that really drives one to be great.

This is especially true in live poker because it is boring as **** and that's a HUGE understatement. Fact is most online players aren't really wired for live poker, It's not that fun seeing 25 hands an hour while maintaing a reasonable VPIP while these ****ing fish play 100% of their ****ing hands and then talk about how masterful their limp call BINK was.

Of course Doug Polk is good for the game. Of course he straddles. If he didn't do these things he'd probably want to gouge his eyes out with a pencil as any reasonably intelligent person would as they sit there listening to some moron talk about how he has a can't fail strategy to beat high limit slots.

Nothing has happened to them. They're still deep in markup dodging their backers, try to scam peple into buying their "package" at a markup.
