In 2017 ESPN tried again, with the ESPN/PokerGo hybrid, where you could watch 1-2 levels a day on ESPN and the rest on PokerGo. Apparently that wasn’t deemed successful for them either.
Unfortunately, live poker just does not sell to a wide enough audience to be on national TV in prime time. Because of this, the only way we’re going to get live coverage anymore is behind a paywall, and that is never going to change. Accept it.
Hours upon hours of live, every hand, 8 robots at the table poker sucks. It will never run well on ESPN or any commercial channel. I have had PokerGO for years but the limited value of the live streams is my wife likes to use it to go to sleep.
Even knowing the winner, I find the production versions (especially the boom time ones) infinitely better. Unfortunately, local cable doesn't have CBS sports, so I did not even see last year final table. Need to check if my Paramount+ includes it.
