one funny thing last night that I think the producers at least started to acknowledge our pain with norm...

he was at the beginning at what was obv gonna be one of his long winded nothing burgers.

they immediately cut away to some pre-produced piece and cut him right off.

lolz.

I generally like Norm and Lon, and the addition of Jamie. I also like Ali and Nick too. They don’t have to be mutually exclusive. I will say that Nick is much more focused on the poker action and discussing the hands, which I like. While the Norm/Lon/Jamie crew can sometimes resemble a meandering podcast that happens to have a poker tournament being played on a background television.

this issue is, with the main event, it isn't just 'a poker tournament'. it's the crown jewel of an entire "sport". as such, it demands better.

The main event is the crown jewel, but if the game is to grow and get more eyeballs on it, I'd argue that the main event should be replaced as the crown jewel, and perhaps the new crown jewel wouldn't be a WSOP event at all.

It would have been nice to be able to watch the the $10k Razz today. Hellmuth, Seidel, Monette, Dzivielevski, Glaser etc.

I would happily watch this rather than the HOF bounty scheduled for tomorrow but maybe the production staff needed a day off after the main event.

Norm

Since you are quite the funny man and always telling those long funny stories while I was trying to listen to and watch people playing poker, I am sure you will appreciate the humor in this.

I enjoy Lon and Norm on prerecorded episodes where they can script their lines beforehand but they are terrible live.

The part that ruined it the most for me was when Norm started saying the 50 words used in Green Eggs and Ham. Honestly, it felt like he wants to get fired but is contract bound so he’s trying to force their hand.

That was a nut low moment for Norm and for poker broadcasting. It was in the middle of a river decision to I believe.

Not sure there will be any more streams. Walking in there today, the feature table and whole PokerGo streaming set up is completely torn down now.

The first part of the series coverage was a total s*#t fight - agree with previous posters.

As for the main, think they pretty much nailed it. Lon is a complete pro, Jamie was brilliant and while Norm can waffle, there is a fair bit of dead air that does need to be filled and doing this live for hours on end, is far more difficult than some appreciate. Ali and Nick are the nut commentators (Jamie K is quickly becoming elite might just be in this group as well) and think they make a nice differentiation between the day and night coverage.

What does need to be fixed is hearing the table talk on occasion. Many times during the coverage the commentators would laugh at something said by a player, but the viewer had no idea of it because all we heard was usually mumbling from the mikes and audio levels and the team talking over the top of the player's conversations post some of the bigger hands. They need to find a happy medium for this. Too much table talk is boring (and some players are completely inane) but occasionally in these events, it is interesting. HSP generally have the table talk/commentary mix right - maybe the WSOP teams should review that for next year.

Jeff Platt was passable (needs to work on his variety of questions and try getting some actual insight from the players other than "How do you feel" & "How is it going". Maria Ho adds nothing IMO. Vince Vaughn was fun and interesting on commentary (not sure how much he actually plays/knows as the new WSOP "Ambassador") and maybe this is something they could also look at. I'm sure some celebs and known players would have donated 30 mins here and there to be on air during the main.

I’m certainly going to watch but knowing that Nick and Ali won’t be back stings a bit. That’s a fun combo. Especially during overtime lol

I missed the Final rulings for Covid vacs for WSOP as did Nick cruise around the scene unvaxed or he wasn't required or he is jabbed but caught it anyway.

Nick Schulman has played multiple WSOP events, so I'm fairly certain he has been vaccinated.

Im literally amazed how much people complain in 2021. Microanalyzing commentary in a poker tournament where most hands will be no factors on their own is just….so 2021

Absolutely insane that pokergo isn't covering the 50k plo, especially since they were already there and the 250k ended relatively early.

It's only the most stacked final table of the entire series with massive POTY implications and probably the 2 biggest names in poker.

Not sure there could be a bigger fail than that
