No coverage of Day 1c. I wonder if this is a conscience effort to try to balance the fields by enticing players with TV coverage.

Hopefully not because the broadcasts have gotten awful. It's time for a change...

This is cool, always hated the November Nine concept. Much better to play through for the hype, drama, and purity of the game. 3 day final table seems a bit silly but will reserve judgment. Looking forward to seeing what they do with the live coverage, think it has huge potential to capture more of the excitement than the ridiculous set up hands plus corny jokes format.

The final table has been 3 days the past 2 years as well

Oh no, what will the "Phils" of poker do now that they can't charge exorbitant fees and %'s for running SNG simulations in August and September with their marks?

About time!!

The coverage of the WSOP over the past couple years has been terrible overall IMO. Not enough coverage. No live streams of main event. Looks like all that is finally going away.

Very pleased with this news! Way to go Poker Central.

Good move for Poker's future. I was seriously thinking ESPN might "break up" with WSOP and the mainstream popularity would in-turn plummet. The best part of this news is the fact that ESPN is extending the contract.

This will be so much better to watch for the real poker fans as well since the big hands won't be all that is aired now. We get to see some real poker. WSOP will also continue to trump WPT since they will keep airing the regular play and not just skipping to the final table where players play WAY different than they do in the earlier stages.

Also, keep Lon and Norman!

Awesome, thanks.

I've watched every second of ESPN coverage and most of the live November 9 coverage as well as listen to multiple poker podcasts and follow along live with the event.

I just got only 19 of 81.

With lots of coverage of the ME, I wonder if this will have a positive impact on small feature table patch deals.

I hope PokerCentral don't do that lame thing again where they show 30 mins live on twitch then the rest is on a subscription only channel broadcast in the USA.

This would be a massive mistake, the point is to grow the game and that's the only way their venture will make money in the long run. Put as much content on Twitch as possible.

I don't recall their channel being a pay channel. I loaded it into my Roku at no charge.

They cut the free twitch stream around an hour into an 8 hour broadcast (post 129). It was all planned beforehand in the schedule etc.

Why would you possibly prefer to spend a month of the summer inside?

I also highly doubt your assumption the summer attracts more players.

Meh, I've wanted poker central to fail because I have no respect for cary Katz and making hundreds of millions off student loans.

Edit also this

He donates more than Adelson does to Nevada politicans

Not as much as he donates in the hi rollers.....

Obviously balancing his donation range.

I always thought the November Nine was a stupid concept. Glad it's done.

Well I am a rec player who goes to the WSOP for two weeks every summer, and I couldn't go at all if it was during February. I can't imagine I am alone. Ton of people take vacation during the summer that they couldn't take during another season, if only because their kids are off school. Very few people have the schedule flexibility of the average poker pro.

The WSOP was created to bring some gamblers to Vegas at a time of year they normally wouldn't go. The number of rec players would dramatically increase in February /March. Think of all those that go to lakes and ocean for 4th of July. Vs sitting inside that month. Not really a family trip IMO. To each their own.

The stretch post super bowl to march madness would be great.
