Just make it against the rules to use PTR etc so you can permaban anyone who references anyone's results.

Also of course regs berate breakeven regs in chat, in which recs see and of course go check their own stats etc.

Interesting Pokerstars is replying to e-mails stating how they blocked PTR, cease and desist letters and how its a victory since they care about privacy. Wonder what is going to happen when they realize PTR is back up and running.
PTR should change the comment section so that you can only leave pre-selected positive comments such as "contact me at xxx@xxx.com I would like coaching" or "great job"... to keep the negativity out, or remove the comment section all together. It's definitely not good for the games to have people berating huge fish

its fish berating other fish, no sane reg would ever do something this stupid. Nor would he ever get "angry" at fish for playing bad.

Probably bad regs rather than people you actually join a table to play.

I think they might be working on rebuilding the database and it takes some time.
B/c right now if you browse through some SNs it seems like some of the crushers are losing and vice versa. (Gus is up more than some of the current bosses)

Ofc these old PTR comments are pure gold.

Well if you're referring to the regs who put in millions of hands & break even or are down 1-2bb n rb grinders, i mean sure they logged onto ptr but i hardly call them fish/recreationals hence your premise is faulty.

They make more money by people seat-scripting? How?
I'm talking more about ring games than for husng fwiw.

And even if that is the case, they are still allowing something that could be classified as unethical. How about they stop scouting for bots? That surely would make them money.

They just eliminated the password requirement today, because of PTR.

Whotfru is more like a sharkscope for cash games - it just shows peoples overall graphs and winrates. It doesn't show anybody's specific hands, like PTR does. Whotfru does have some HUD stats, but for zoom those amass so quickly on other regulars, so those aren't anything that people aren't likely to already have.

The most interesting thing about whotfru is that it tracks zoom - and it was interesting to see that there are hardly any regulars (if any?) playing 25nl zoom and above who are doing better than breakeven these days.

As usual so much bs here.

Ofc every minus 50bb fish googles his screenname 5 times a day, finds ptr and then signs up for 17bucks/month to see how much hes down?!! How delussional are u guys.
Teh same bs argument all teh antiscripters use: "but teh fish feel hunted" obv they do feel v hunted if they play 1 table for an hour and then quit bc somebody sat down quickly when they started their session. Lmao.

Insults was teh main thing ptr was fun for. No somewat sane reg would ever bother to insuly a fish and chances if somebody would do tis teh fish would never find out bc guess wat - he doesnt have an account.

Tl;dr: best day evvvvva

I'm no expert in the poker ecology, but I think it's clear that there is an optimal rate for a fish to lose. it's different for every fish, but all but the sickest of degenerates has a limit. if they lose too fast, it's no longer fun and they find a new place to use their disposable income.

the problem is that it's completely rational for anyone to use the available tools (PTR, russian PTR, notecaddy, seat scripting, buying HH). if I played for a living again and could play on Stars, I will readily admit I would use most or all of these things to get an edge. pre-BF, just about everyone on FTP used PTR to hunt and slaughter fish. let's not pretend it's some innocuous social media channel.

it's up to the sites to figure out a way to stop this. I don't think it's a coincidence that 2 of the most successful poker sites the past 3-4 years have been the 2 sites that work against regs the most, Bovada and 888. I truly think anonymous games is the best possible solution. it's the only way I can think of to neutralize these tools.

anti-reg --> fish bleed slower --> everyone wins.

the bottom line is this: do you want a bigger piece of a seemingly rapidly shrinking pie or a smaller piece of a larger pie?

What Kind of bogus claim is this?
it's a really shady use of statistics. they almost certainly arrived at this by saying "x% of our customers are winners, and x/4.2% of non-customers are winners." that's obviously bull**** because winning regs are far more likely to use PTR than fish.

in reality, to make such a claim legitimate, you'd have to take 2 (large) groups of similarly skilled players, give one group PTR and disallow one group from using PTR, and record their results.

I agree that comparing US to non-US facing sites is comparing apples to oranges, but when I mention 888, I mean massive casino/poker room operation that is not US-facing, not their tiny NJ offering. it is very difficult to decouple the effects of Bovada's anti-reg tactics from the generally much weaker player pool in the US, but it's really the best example we've got since other sites have been slow to adopt.

Grunch:

It's quite possible that PokerStars was paying off PTR to block stats, but the new owners, in their mad dash to save $$ in any way possible, have ended that arrangement.

I didn't think cease and desist letters were usually replied to with successful extortion attempts.
