Quitting poker won't suddenly make you more productive if you hate your job, something else will just fill the void.

Seriously, how is your poker "addiction" -EV? And if it's not, why are you worried about it?
agree.

re the closed thread on GA and poker pros with pit problems.

You may be interested in the current UKGC consultation on self exclusion etc.. announcement here http://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk...y_consult.aspx

PDF here:

http://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk...ust%202014.pdf

closing date 31st October. Page 40 is about self exclusion by product, sometimes called vertical self exclusion or partial self exclusion.

This measure would allow online players to self exclude from everything but poker. Something I have lobbied for BTW.

Addictions of all sorts can destroy and there is a real risk with this approach of partial self exclusion but as the RGSB research mentioned discusses not allowing product based self exclusion may deter some from self excluding and so helping themselves.

Self exclusion from gambling sites/casinos doesn't work. In fact, if you self exclude from a casino but go there to gamble anyway, you are legally not entitled to your winnings and you cannot recoup your losses.

Varies by jurisdiction and casino terms but generally today it is a bit ****. Online centralised self exclusion can be far more effective, certainly in NJ the sites would say it works.

It has demonstrably helped some problem gamblers, at least that's what the research shows.

Maybe it has helped some problem gamblers, but in some areas the ban can last for at least a few years...sometimes even an entire lifetime ban.

People change over time and could regret such a semi-permanent/permanent decision as much as they would an old unwanted tattoo.

And that did it, i'm back playing poker and for some odd reason, I feel like I got my mojo back, I seem to have purpose in life again and happier.

What yall think?
