2-3 years (hopefully 1-2) plus probation is a good estimate. House arrest is unlikely. The feds prob won’t pick up the case bc the case is barely big enough for them to bother. If he was part of a known criminal gang or mafia, engaged in frequent violence, or engaged in additional organized illegal enterprises (cc fraud, bookmaking, arms trafficking), then the feds prob would’ve picked it up.
But based on what’s stated and also what’s not stated in the news articles, he just seems like a run of the mill weed trafficker who was ratted out by his courier. I doubt there was even a need for wiretap applications in this case and if the defendant was agreeing to rat, the police wouldn’t have released his name, pic, and so many details about the investigation. So it appears that he is not cooperating and will take the time. Unless there is a technicality that lets him off, I’d say 98% he pleads out before going to trial.
