Casino Barcelona (Where the PokerStars even is being held) is just 2,9 kilometers away from La Rambla, where the terror attack happened today.

Was the PokerStars event ongoing today?

Not sure if this link is allowed or allowable under the circumstances) but my colleague wrote a quick report when the news broke...casino is a ways distant from Las Ramblas apparently, but it's an area almost anyone visiting Barcelona would likely visit.

just talked to a friend of mine who's there, he says that as far as he knows no poker players where in the attacked area, however he heard about some players being held hostage in a pub shortly after the attack, story is unconfirmed though

I've walked it a few times, it's all flat, basically you walk down the beach/promenade to and from. TBF I usually stopped for a pleasant meal/drink in the seaside bars/restaurants but it is really no big distance.
