The Great State of North Dakota gives us an outline of what the PUA process may look like in your state. It appears that each application in ND will be manually processed but this is some good detail for us on what to expect from your state.

Examples of acceptable documents self-employed individuals may submit to show proof of employment and earnings –

* Federal or state income tax returns for the 2019 calendar year
* Business financial statements/records
* Recent records connected to the business such as a phone or utility bill, current business license or rental agreement for your place of business.
* Affidavits from individuals having knowledge of the business, or other evidence (trip tickets, crop elevator receipts/credits), to verify you are self- employed.
* Self-employed individuals should include a copy of Schedule C, F, SE or K with your Form 1040 to determine your monetary eligibility

Interesting. I guess I should go ahead and file for 2019 since I have it ready to go in the computer program I use, then I will be ready with a copy of the PDF to send them when NV gets ready.

Since the filing deadline is now July 15th, I won't have to pay the money I owe until then even If I file now.

Also when it says: 2019 Total Gross/Net * Earnings
What figure are they looking for? Your AGI from tax form? Which line of your tax form would they be looking for?

Nevada unemployment site down Saturday, expanded benefits coming

It would be a miracle if they could get it done in 1 day.

"Nevada’s unemployment site will be temporarily down Saturday as the system is readied to process the expanded unemployment benefits offered under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, also known as CARES.

The Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitiation said Friday evening the website will be down from 1 p.m. to midnight to “conduct system enhancements and take steps towards the fast-track implementation of the federal CARES Act.”

I spoke yesterday with an expert on small Business Administration affiliate with the University of Georgia.
IF you are filing as a business ( which I have for years as a professional gambler ), you could also be eligible for a SBA loan or the paycheck protection program.
I have already filed for unemployment and SBA disaster relief, and Monday will file for paycheck protection.
Please be aware that you cannot double dip ( get both unemployment and a loan ). I plan to refund one source if somehow I get approved for more than one.
Also, for the loans, You also will have to provide proof that 75% of your loan goes to payroll, rent, utilities and such for your business ( and likely need to have a preestablished seperate business checking account ).
I will update as I get results/further information.

Yes, I applied for this yesterday, but put zero employees which is what they base the loan off, I don't want the loan I want the grant for 10k free money that you don't have to pay back.

There is a box you check if you want to be considered for a 10k advance. Even if the loan gets denied which mine will because I have no employees, you could still get the 10k and not have to pay back.

I don't think that poker players should be getting 10k in grant money. I mean why should poker players get free money?

It doesn't matter what you do, if you are self employed is what matters. Multiple people telling me to file for this so I did. If I don't get it oh well. We will see.

The money is probably gone by now or close to it, opened up yesterday and tons of people filing for it. Was a limited amount of money and then it ended.

I mean yeah I guess you are right you should file. Going to be crazy though too many people filing but not enough money as you said.

Don't think poker players would qualify as it specifically states not more than 1/3 of your income can be from gambling activities:

(If Applicant is unable to check all of the following, Applicant is not an Eligible Entity):

Applicant does not derive more than one-third of gross annual revenue from legal gambling activities.

So in the states a pro player has to pay taxes plus not get any bail out when they can't work? Nice

I was working with the understanding that it doesn't matter what your job is. As long as you file a federal tax return, you are eligible for the federal stimulus money. I cannot speak for unemployment in individual states, however.

At the end of the day, if you're a "professional poker player," you should be filing a federal tax return. Otherwise, you just gamble.

Nevada Governor on live press briefing had someone on that said the system for self employed people to file won't be ready until Mid May. lol

He did see everything could be backdated to March 15th tho, and the $600 back to 3/29.

I found it pretty funny how as i was watching the sisolak and the dtr "expert" lady talk about all these upgrades and how theyve hired so many more people to help and i literally cant even log into the website lol. Ive given up at this point, i was also one who filed at the end of march but immediately told me i was ineligible.

I keep hearing this both here and in a private forum I'm in. Guys! This isn't that hard. You are frustrated because you were ruled ineligible and can't log in today when few if any states even have the PUA platform, the one that is/will be designed for self-employed to apply, up and running yet.

Sit tight, be patient. Follow your states PUA eligibility daily updates on their website. Even follow here. Just don't freak out because you came back "Ineligible" for a program that isn't even functioning yet. Good grief.

Edit: It is actually a positive sign that you cannot access the site as it signifies that software updates could be occurring.

No the extra $600 a week kicks in now and everyone is scrambling to get their weekly claim in, and that is why its crashing, new system starts this Sunday, where Sunday, Monday and Tuesday you go by your last name, then its open season the rest of the days.

There are 1000's of self employed people in the state that most likely cannot go 2 months without any money coming in, which is what it will be by mid May. I am doing Ok but would like to get this money to stop my bankroll from going straight down tho. lol

I got answer from my bank on paycheck protection program. Not eligible if over 50% of income from legal gambling. Seems very unfair to pay taxes, but not be eligible for federal help when so many others are.

You should be eligible for the PUA assistance once your states platform begins accepting Unemployment applications for self-employed. If you do qualify you will automatically be eligible for the $600 per week through June 30 as well.

Edit: I saw that you already applied for UI which was the incorrect process. What state are you in? Most have the expected date of the states program being online on their website by now.

I live in Georgia. I waited to apply for unemployment until day after Trump signed CARES act.
Very worried that we will not be able to play poker for a LONG time, and that our profession will fall through the cracks for government benefits.

It appears as though Georgia is ahead of many states in beginning to process those eligible for PUA. According to the GA Dept of Labor you should begin receiving notification as to how to proceed this Wed, April 22. Good Luck.

Thanks for reply. I just got the email an hour ago from PUA with Ga Department of Labor. I just finished filling out app as best I can. Fortunately I have W2G from WSOP, so I can document some of my winnings. Hope it works out.

Good Luck! I know of several full-time grinders who applied for PUA this week and were approved the next day for the 39-week Unemployment plus the 16-wk $600 payment on top of that.
