you have to be an american to play in survivor. and the OP was most likely a level, since the account associated with him plays micro stakes.

read up.

I'm a Survivor fan so I feel I should weigh in here. People keep throwing around names like PA and Zigmund, or PH etc. Unless it was Celebrity Survivor, (which they haven't made yet), then I don't think it would be anyone that recognizable. You never see a bunch of unrecognizable people and then a baseball player or basketball player, it doesn't make sense.

While I agree somewhat with 663366, that poker players are not huge mainstream celebs, still Annie Duke was on Celebrity Apprentice, not regular Apprentice. If they've been on TV enough for other contestants to possibly go, hey haven't I see you on Highstakes Poker? Then I don't think they'd fit a regular season of Survivor. So I think most of highstakes poker TV regs are out. But many of the online guys mentioned in this thread could work. Certainly there are many online pros who 2+2ers know but the public does not that would work for a regular season. They would just be considered another Survivor player, not someone famous. Note that Eddie George's wife was on, not Eddie George.

annie duke is obviously too mainstream, but other than phil helmuth, doyle, ivey, and a handfull of others, the rest are probably fine. survivor has had a former professional football player (who was recognized), former olympian, and the person you refer to as "the wife of eddie george" was a singer in a pretty popular band, swv.

As much as I'd love it being Gus or PA, you definitely had to be a US citizen in previous editions because of the visas necessary and the taxes associated with the prize money and all that nonsense.

Now, it's possible that one or both of those guys have citizenship, but if someone knows for sure that they DON'T, then they're probably out.

I did find an article stating Gus had become an American citizen after a stint in the Danish Military............. Just found it weird for Gus to say that he isnt going to play in the WSOP ME this year.

antonio esfandiari or erik lindgren imo. i base this on nothing

its not gonna be someone that known. probably less known than JRB. some internet kid that only 2+2 would know
07-06-2010 , 06:05 PM
JRB was actually pretty fun to have on the show, but yeah, it would behoove poker to have someone a bit more respectable to represent the profession. I actually think Bond would be a fun "get."
