Have you guys ever read any of Phil Hellmuth's books? Well I have, in fact I own his signed autobiography, and in one of Phil's books he details different player types and gives them animal counterparts ie the crazy jackal, the calling station elephant, etc. Taking inspiration from the great one himself I present to you my own player types represented by Star Trek TNG characters.

Worf - Aggro Donk Maniac. Very aggro.

Data - GTO Nerd player studies PIO and has no soul.

Geordie LaForge - Nit, you know this guy isn't betting without the nuts. If he bets run and hide.

Deanna Troi - Calling station. Like every other woman in the real world, you're an idiot if you try to bluff her. She calls because she "just doesn't believe you". You'd think being empathic would help, but no, she's still a calling station.

Wesley Crusher - These are your famous poker players. Youtube vloggers, etc. The world is different for them, they are the deus ex machina of the poker world.

Commander Riker - Solid Pro. All around good balanced player.

Captain Picard - Phil Hellmuth level. This player is rarely seen but when he is you have no chance against him. He is smarter than to go up against Commander Riker players and just swoops out of the sky and performs the Picard manouver which is to threaten to burn down a casino and whine your way into a victory.

Anybody else?

I never got into that show, but I'd like to offer a different show:

Richard Hendricks - considers himself a classic TAG, which he is, but he's also a tell box who tilts easily.

Dinesh Chugtai - complete whale, plays too many hands but not in a LAG sort of way.

Erlich Bachman - borders on weak-tight, but grouses constantly about the hands people are playing and how he once crushed these types. i.e. like Doyle Brunson was on HSP.

Bertram Gilfoyle - GTO bot, trained by a solver he built himself from his server Anton, but has a tendency to tap the glass in hands with a certain Pakistani player across the table. Also never shuts up about how razz is the superior game.

Jian Yang - classic SAG, looks to get into pots with Erlich so he can run a monster river bluff

Jared Dunn - sneakily a solid player at the table, much to everyone's surprise. Turns out, he was heavily coached by his best friend's grandson.

Monica Hall - Most LAGgy of the bunch, but has a tendency to blow up at inopportune moments.

Russ Hanneman - see Alan Keating

Recreational 1/2 NLHE women are indeed calling stations. Play your good hands like you're trying to bully them and they'll pay you off 100% of the time. They'll lose the money, but they AIN'T GETTING PUSHED AROUND BY NO MAN!

If you see women consistently sitting at 2/5 or above, beware; they tend to have special powers and can be hard to predict due to influence from menstrual cycles on their temperament and psychology.

Women face more aggression at the poker table than men so it makes sense they would adapt by tending to be more passive and call more. Plus it's more in women's nature to tend to be more passive than men though women poker players are gonna be far more aggressive than women in general they'll be less aggressive than the average male poker player. Out groups and outsiders and different races and foreigners etc also all face more aggression than whatever the most common race/typical looking reg, so it's not entirely misogyny to blame. Only when I do it.

Lt. Barclay -- introverted incel who never takes his Beats headphones off, engages in no discussion at the table, looks like he hates every minute he spends at the table but is still somehow always there.

Guinan -- OMC who never shuts the f' up, barely paying attention to the game but constantly offering life advice to people who certainly never asked for it.

Dr. Krusher -- total Karen, will call the floor in a heartbeat if something goes awry, will also complain to the manager if her drink order isn't exactly as specified. Hasn't smiled since 1994.

Q - a complete wildcard, like playing poker with some multimillionaire influencer who somehow always cleans out the table.
