I really think this thread should be focusing more on OP's friend that help him in the trade. There's no way he didn't know about Brad's tendencies, Brad probably owed him money and it went down like this;

OP's friend-Hey Brad you still owe me 30k, I have a way for you to pay me back, it's kinda scummy, but it'll get you out of your debt.

BB- Oh yes i'd love to get out of debt from you, lets do it.

(insert op's story)

OP's money is sitting in his friends account imo.

I'm no hs reg by _any_ means, but I play mid-stakes live regularly in casinos and in home games, and I've loaned money to people I only know from playing many times. I went on a recent trip a little short, and when I busted in the midst of some great action, I called a friend who runs a local game who I only know from playing, and have not interacted with him anywhere but at his game. Our conversation:

Me: I'm at casino x, and just busted the roll I brought with me...and the action is great.
Him: do you want me to wire you? I can do 3k this afternoon if you want.

That was it...no beating around the bush, no "Can you spot me? I SWEAR I'm good for it." etc. This is a guy who I'd lay even money doesn't know for sure what my last name is. What he does know is that I'm a winning player, I'm a good steward of my money (no pit games, good tilt control etc.) and that I'm honorable (and being gainfully employed doesn't hurt).

That's just how it is in the poker world. The rule I follow when I loan is that I never give anybody money that I'll miss if I don't get it back. That way I don't stress, and if I get stiffed, I figure it's a cheap way to get someone who is obviously not a person I would want to continue to associate with to leave me alone.

cliffs: the haters should stfu, as they know not of what they speak
All of this makes a ton of sense. Quit hating on OP. He admitted a mistake. Its understandable why it happened. I hope he gets his money back.

Also, Johnny Hughes, why don't you just STFU. You clearly haven't read the thread and your post was ignorant. Of course most of your posts are full of recycled information or unsubstantiated bull****. For some reason the mods seem to think that you are a serious historian or something.

I have read some of your presumably self published drivel in other spots on the internet and no I'm not linking to it and giving you views. You're a bad writer and no historian. Also your attitude towards cheating is ridiculous. Go away.

Kinda like how it's better to try and make up some bull**** story about how you dropped money, instead of degening it off?

But anyway, that's not really true in most circumstances. Have a look at rational choice theory and its flaws, if they weren't already obvious.

I don't know brad, but from the outside looking in I always thought he was a good guy. He was the guy that was trying to get justice for being scammed.

I guess I was wrong and he is just a degen? that's what it seems like anyway. Never imagined Brad doing something like this.

First off starting a thread on high stakes transfers gone wrong in NVG is prob not the right forum as most here have no idea why this happens. Second...when moving money around online for cash don't put it out there ffsk for the world to read. And lastly Brad has had some issues but as far as I know has never "scammed" or "stolen" any money from a transfer or backer. Have you checked with any well known Canadian backers..Buck21,snake8484 to see if they have any experience's like this...I know Buck21 is in town for WSOP and knows BB pretty well.

First off it is the right place to put the thread because it gets the most traffic and the point is to out BB. Second, he isn't the first person to write about moving money online for cash. Its no big secret that these things are done.
Lastly, clearly he has "scammed" or "stolen" money from a transfer unless you think OP is lying or something. Also, he is hugely in debt and hasn't paid some people in years (see other posts ITT) How do you not consider that scamming or stealing when he refuses to pay?

one thing nobody has mentioned is if wcg can get 30k off Lock for 30k Cash, not only does he save 3k that he would have had to vig to someone else, but he gets cash, which leaves no IRS trail saving him roughly 10k in taxes he would of owed to the IRS if he cashed the money out in a form where it hit his bank. So, anyone saying he had no motivation to do this, or no upside, is pretty ignorant.

Another scumbag poker story? Oh, well that's nothing new... Keep on moving people.

i know poker warps our perception of the value of money, but some of you guys need to get back down to earth and realize the money you are dealing with and the people you are handing it out to. 28k may not seem like a lot to us grinders, and i dealt with having to get back down to reality as well, but 28k is indeed a lot of money to most other people and especially to these broke ass degens.

WCG is obviously handling himself extremely well in this thread and shouldn't have to put up with all the clowns bashing him. He has made himself clear multiple times. He is not expecting sympathy, he is essentially just making a public service announcement.

Hope you get your money back, live and learn. =\

for a number of reasons, ****ty US sites are going for like .90c/$1 for cash xfer, so trading 30k online for 30k cash is a huge win, saving you about 3k, and i'm sure a lot of completely rational people would have jumped all over it. w/ the information doug had (partial), it seemed that there would be no problem getting the money, and his transaction had a very high chance of going smoothly. even if doug knew that brad's playing 5/10 and in tough times, the chances of him scamming is still probably less than 10 percent given connections and status (despite results).

it's not a risk i would have taken, but all this OP hate is completely misguided. and LOL @ the thought of doug needing to suck up to brad booth. he's a very good player, very socially intelligent, and probably doesn't blink twice at phil ivey let alone brad booth.

You fully deserve what you got
While in this case there was also a friend involved, what usually happens is, and I will put it simple

-Honest nice guy is honest, trustworthy and always keeps his word. If he borrows money, it's not even a question - it goes without saying that money goes back at first chance, even if he can barely afford it

-Assumes people with similar interests and lifestyle are the same. This stuff is often given elsewhere as some sort of "life knowledge" and is used in quotes etc, that you can assume to know others from your own actions/yourself. This is complete BS but not everyone knows that

Deserved what he got? This is often being used by scammers themselves to try to justify their actions but it's probably more of a shadow projection in this case to be a bit of a jungtard

Best of luck OP, tons of people read NVG much more than most think and this thread will definitely have impact and possibly even positive consequences. Cheers

The problem in situations like this isnt the scammers, its the fools who give the scammers money.
If there was no fools, there would be no scammers.

I hope this thread will help put a stop to it.

OP: Hi everyone, I am a high stakes reg and would like to warn any people that could potentially be in the same situation I am not to deal with Brad Booth at all as he has 30k in outstanding debt with me with no sign of paying it back. I am not complaining about the loss of money, rather want to help others out.

NVG: LOL! You leant people money, hahaha dont you read NVG like I do 30x per day and know based on others posts that he is bad news! Tough love is what you need and I'm glad you didn't get your money, chalk this one up to lesson learned

I feel for you Doug, I got into a lot of situations like this when I started playing live poker. I was very naive and trusted a lot of people I shouldn't have. The only advice that I can give you is don't trust anyone that you meet through live poker.
