I wonder if the same people that say OP deserved what he got also say girls dressed provocatively deserve to be raped.

The hilarious part of it all was he bought drinks for all of us all night long and the waitress said at the beginning of the night "you guys want me to start a tab"? and Brad said sure put a tab under him. We drank a lot and we were all pretty hammered. He had to go take a piss and I havent seen him since and the waitress gave us a bill at the end of the night because he took off or whatever. It was around $700. I said to them just throw it on brads tab or whatever because he told you to at the beginning of the night. She said she had no idea who the guy was and never saw hime before. So there was no tab to put it on really. I dont know if the guy did it on purpose over a measily $700 but he's still a douche for that

If anyone really knows him, he loves to talk about the vag. I remember him keep saying (because there are a lot of natives up there) you want that indian vag (in different words most times) dont ya buddy. He also pointed out a really ugly chick that he hit, was pretty funny night aside from him taking off
That's a pretty funny story because I remember reading him saying he's sad he can no longer afford to buy his friends drinks after the scandal. The guy is something else.

He has a staker in Langley for the big game they play down there if anyone is wondering why they see him at Cascades now and then.

But anyway, that's not really true in most circumstances. Have a look at rational choice theory and its flaws, if they weren't already obvious.
Your perception does not equal reality. Also way to use a gimmick account to be a dick.. So brave!

not really. the subtext from people bashing the op is "he brought it on himself" which is just another way to shift the blame from the scumbag scammer to the innocent but naive dude who lent him the money.

I think its ridiculous that people loaned each other absurd amounts of money with no written contracts, no legal documents, etc. And this is considered standard and you are "uncool" if you are not down to toss people a few K (or more) whenever they need it. Resist the peer pressure.

Really sorry WCG, I am not meaning to "pile on" you. I agree with your advice and wish people thought about this more. I have seen *many* of my poker friends get swept up in the poker world and think its standard to have loans out to like 10 people and never be paid back.

I can understand giving in to the pressure (though I wouldn't) as you can take a lot of flack and hassle for being a supposed "tightwad" -- the kind of crap that would confirm to me that I wouldn't want to hang out with them anyways, but whatever. I have been scammed over the internet before, just not involving poker, so we can all make mistakes.

Just this stupid gambling culture degen stuff needs to stop, plenty of nerdy or normal online players think that they 'have' to act this way to be one of the poker crowd. Not true.

Start your won thread, don't de-rail Dougs
Not here to derail - You're a joke because of the response you had to the situation - "he's a nice guy" "a lot of stuff happened to him" - how would you feel if people responded in your thread with garbage like that about the guy that stole from you?

BB isn't a "nice guy". Good people don't go steal from others because someone else stole from them. any excuse for BB leaves open the chance he could do it to someone else in the future. A thief is always a thief. He's scum and Doug is honorable to post rather than to keeping about it silent.

this and this. my understanding is 0.9 is like the max people will pay for merge and to unload higher amounts you might have to sell for less, say 0.87? if so, $30k Merge ~= $26k cash, so WCG is getting 15% return by getting 1:1. 15% is like the interest rate on medium-risk personal loans afaik. This one just happened to default, and now WCG is taking measures to 1) warn the community, 2) use his remaining leverage to encourage payback. I don't think he needs a lesson in when/why to loan money to friends/strangers.

the "yu got kon'd" post was excellent.

And lastly Brad has had some issues but as far as I know has never "scammed" or "stolen" any money from a transfer or backer. Have you checked with any well known Canadian backers..Buck21,snake8484 to see if they have any experience's like this...I know Buck21 is in town for WSOP and knows BB pretty well.
Ummm who gives a ****, he just scammed the op. I have no idea what point you're trying to make.

Whats the likelihood that:

Brad will soon post how this was all a misunderstanding and will now be paying WCG back?

Brad makes no further contact with WCG, forcing WCG to post info pertaining to Brad's other debts as well as their text log?

I hope for the sake of WCG that it's the former and not the latter that happens.

Good luck WCG! I hope you get your money back ASAP!

I'm not defending Brad Booth at all. I was the first one who warned him about the transaction. Doug knows all about Brad and we've had a couple talks about what he should do about the situation and I was for him starting this thread.

So prior to the scam threads spreading like wildfire folks generally said oh I dunno 3-5 percent of all poker players are profitable and can support themselves from playing the game...still the case or are we down to <1% as I originally thought?
