With lobbying pressure, I fear we will likely go back to ROW pool.

The dream is over bois.

It's unfortunate but governments never care about people who grind poker especially people who do it full time. In fact governments hate people who grind poker full time. I always knew that Ontario poker was on borrowed time and could never be counted on as a long term source of income. Hopefully no one who went from 25z to 200nl+ quit their jobs thinking that this would last forever.

I think its unlikely. for all we know pokerstars is lobbying the opposite way. We can probably do stuff to decrease the odds of them giving in tho. We can explain to them how its in the best interest to keep the money in Canada and not give it to russians. its really not a hard argument to make. the issue is will anyone do it? Or will big company's prevail

The lobbying is being more driven by FD and DK who want the global liquidity for daily fantasy.

From a poker perspective, it makes sense from an operator perspective as well. The biggest disaster is to acquire a customer, then they show up and they cant find a game to play that they want (eg, imagine if you really like Zoom poker, and there's 7 people in the pool or you want to play a giant MTT and the biggest one out there has a tiny guarantee). If Ontario is within global liquidity that doesn't happen.

I think a decent compromise is pool for tourneys, but keep cash segregated. Imagine if you’re some Canadien rec playing micro stakes for the first time and are instantly fleeced by 5 eastern euro pros. That money leaves Canada and never comes back

I would like to go back to ROW. Play at any time you want, unlimited tables, and you will increase your winnings by playing in USD and cashing out to CAD.

Plus the PS client on Apple computers doesn’t work half the time anyways.

Thankfully, evolution is consistent, where the only difference is its pace. Who will open my wallet and how much solely depends on their evolution compared to mine. As a consumer it will never be my job/role to deliver a product/service that will be used/consumed. In my case, Ontario going back to the global pool in its current state will be a financial loss to both the service provider and the province.

One thing that's worth mentioning is how the standard of living is measured directly to the choices/options of "job/career and other" opportunities. The more people are in a city there's more "exchange" between producers and consumers, which equals to tax revenue. Las Vegas and Macao are great examples of places that have benefited from offering the type of opportunities that may be unavailable/restricted elsewhere. I've been playing online poker from 2004.

Was anyone able to get the 600 welcome bonus from pokerstars after their account had been migrated? Seeing as i've never deposited or played on stars ontario, it should apply?

According to support I don't qualify because I had deposited on .com 15 years ago. I'll try again. Had no issues with party or gg getting the welcome bonus.

I don't recall getting the bonus from Stars.

I did get it from GG as you mentioned.

I have tried multiple times in the last while to log on to Stars Ontario without success. Previously I have given up because I didn't want to spend a lot of time on what I intended as a short break from other tasks.

Tonight I decided take the time to see if I could solve the problem. After several unsuccessful attempts I saw a message that said if I was having a problem I should contact support@on.pokerstars.ca. So I wrote the following email:

I have played on your site for many years, and continued my play on PS CAON. But for some time now I have not been able to access your site. The mobile app for PokerStars Ontario says it needs to be updated; but when I go to the app store and download the current version for iPad and then try to log in, I either find myself in a loop in which I am repeatedly asked for my PIN again, or I am told that I’ve entered an invalid PIN (although it’s the PIN I was sent).

When I try to log on to Poker Stars Ontario via my MacBook instead, I get a message telling me the app can’t be opened. I reinstalled the app and got as far as seeing my account. But no lobby was visible and when I tried to play Spin and Go, I got a message telling me the app can’t be opened.

Such frustrations I don’t need. I no longer have much cash on your site, so if you’d like to just ship me $83 I’ll call it square.
The email that I got in response said (you've probably already guessed):

Yeah they are incompetent now. Sucks cause they used used to be the best support by far

just send the email to the normal Support @pokerstars email and they will transfer it to whatever team works on Ontario.

That will at least get your message to them...They will probably reply with some template that has nothing to do with what your talking about though. good luck

Not sure how I can help, but my friend had a similar issue with his mobile app. He has an old 7 digit pin, but the mobile app only works with 6 digit pins

It took me 3 weeks to get a cashout, and the only reason I was finally able to do so, was because I was in contact with Pokerstars Europe who accessed my Ontario account. This is an Ontario problem , not specifically related to Pokerstars, but pretty much anything having to do with customer service in Ontario, you'll usually find it unbelievably incompetent. This is what happens when no one is held to any degree of accountability. They simply can't be bothered with following up on anything, or paying any attention to detail, and they won't be held accountable for any scew-ups.

Those guys you are talking to are probably all living in a certain 3rd world country and contracted for $1/hr. Of course they're gonna be incompetent/not care about you.

I"m not talking about offshore and or people doing support for $1/hr. I'm talking about customer service groups that are based in Ontario. Sure, there is a % of customer supports groups based out of Canada, but a lot of the groups i'm talking about are based in Canada and specifically Ontario.

A perfect example is the mess that the woodbine poker room is. Because there is no legal competition, they don't have to be good, as there the only legal choice in the GTA area. if there was a choice people would play at a different poker room. In turn, people having the choice would create an incentive to be better, and people would be held accountable for there actions or they would lose business. If an employee was constantly indifferent/entitled in there work habits, then they would eventually be fired because the employer (great Canadian gaming in this case) would lose business because of the employees action. But when no competition exists then it becomes a environment of what currently exists.

It's an international student doing support for $2/hr then.
