I would argue it matters less at low stakes cause you can have higher win rates. If you have a very high win rate, rakeback is a nice to have, not a necessity.

You can win more pre-rakeback but that gets negated a bit, sometimes entirely, by the fact you're being raked at double digit bb/100

You're probably aware of the following but to others reading this who aren't, an example:

I mainly play 200nl at the moment. The rake on Pokerstars.ON is listed as 5% up to a $3.50 cap. That means 5% of the pot gets raked from every pot up to the first $70 (35bb, $3.50/.05) in the pot, after which any money that goes in is unraked. I pay about 7bb/100 in rake which is another way of saying I need to be winning for > 7bb/100 pre-RB in the game to be making money.

Conversely, at 25nl the rake on Pokerstars.ON is 4.50% up to a cap of $2.30. "Well, that's good, you pay less as a % and the capped amount is smaller" one seeing that might think. However, $2.30/0.045 is ~$51.11 which means 4.5% is coming out of the pot for the first ~205bb added to it.

I don't play 25nl so I can't say exactly what sort've bb/100 that works out to but it's definitely >>> the 7bb/100 I pay at 200nl.

Yes, in general, you are able to make more pre-rakeback as you move down in stakes - the games are generally softer - but this is clearly offset considerably by the fact ~every pot you play postflop is raked to the max.

If you're one of the best regs in the pool it's still possible to have rakeback make up < 50% of your winrate, but decent rakeback is likely still going to be very important for you to climb stakes and get out of the raketrap that is low stakes NLHE.

Can we agree to call out the idiots like madbulgarian in chat when they berate recs, or when they constantly criticize players cause their "turn cbet is too low" or other idiotic overly technical talk non-stop which makes recs feel uncomfortable.

It's one thing to needle or trash talk someone if you don't like them, but I see this bs non-stop and it's just irritating. You're grinding poker to make money, and the vast majority of the money comes from recs. Why would you make them feel bad and not want to play more? Are poker players honestly this facking dumb? It's like a bartender relying on tips but berating guests for drinking Coors Light (although to be fair if you drink Coors Light, you kinda deserve verbal abuse).

To your question, yes, people who do that really are that dumb. Nothing wrong with calling them out.

You would be shocked now many are, yeah.

I've played with "pros" who basically grind in their local room full time, who are completely unaware of the idea of creating a positive environment at the table and trying to keep fish happy.

I relayed this same msg to him specifically like a month ago, so it unfortunately doesn’t seem as though he actually took what I was saying into consideration. Not surprising tbh.
Probably likes coors light too.

So I'm just wondering all the poker options in Ontario now.

Pokerstars
Party Poker
888 Poker
GG Poker

is that all?

I'm wondering how many sportsbooks too.

Thanks

He's a clown. It's ironic when he berates players cause he's a **** reg who probably barely breaks even if that. If he was at a table I was at tonight it probably wouldn't have lasted nearly as long. I was at a table and this guy was going crazy. He probably tilted off 10 stacks. And he didn't seem to mind. He seemed to be having a good time. We were talking about traveling, politics, whatever. I think it's important for regs to engage people as much as possible in the chat. Chat is meant for positive conversations but unfortunately it's mostly used for crying and berating.

I mean RiverRat you're just as much of an annoying troll in the chat as well tbh so complaining about other regs talking in chat is a bit rich coming from you

I recently received a warning from PartyPoker via e-mail.

Apparently I threw too many "throwables" at one player in particular.

First of all, I never start it.

Secondly, it was most certainly the dancing donkey throwable.

May not be the spot for it but we are having a small poker tournament at my house in Hamilton. Feb 5th 1:30 PM. $50.00 buyin in $20.00 rebuys. No rake and am expecting 15 to 18 players.

We just like to have fun and there are as of yet no Casino tournaments (closer to GTA than Casino Windsor). PM me if you would like more information.

Hi All

Signing up for WSOP / GG and hoping for some advice for Ontario

1. Understand GG powers WSOP and same player pool. Is there a difference if I sign up for GG vs WSOP?

2. Bonus code for new customers?

3. Is there any affiliates for additional rakeback/bonuses I should be securing?

4. Any other advice for setting up a new account to maximize rakeback/promos other than the new player promotions listed on their websites?

Thanks

Lol see how much of an a-hole you are yet having the audacity to complain about the behavior of other regs at the table.

If anyone needs to get banned from the site, it's you. Not any of the other regs you are complaining about but only you

I'm a complete and ruthless a-hole to people I don't like. Will send you back to 50nl soon.

FYI if you're tempted to chat tilt (which almost definitely has a negative impact on your bottom line) just email PS and request a self-ban (I did years ago)

In my experience it's i) almost always something to do w/ *your own* ego (see, insecurity) motivating this behaviour, and ii) my working theory is there is a positive correlation b/w the amount people talk in chat and the degree to which they overrate their own abilities

I agreed with you before about calling out people who berate others but sounds like you’re a pot calling the kettle black. Maybe best to just zip it altogether.

There is a discord for discussing Ontario poker rooms here: https://discord.gg/Vq4KDS3e

You could ask in the GG channel and should get good advice there.

Silly question that I think I know the answer to: does the ring fence of ON mean that sites can’t run satellites to live events outside of the province? I play Stars mostly and didn’t see anything PCA related in the months leading up. Would it then stand to reason that WSOP.ca, despite its name, won’t be able to run satellites for live events at WSOP? My assumption is they can’t but curious to know I’m wrong.

888 last year had satellites to the main event. They just did not call it the WSOP
