Hahaha it's pretty amusing. From my five-dollar seat, it went like this:

• Person A has almost 54,000 posts on these forums, but has only started 211 threads. Thus, a very high percentage of Person A's posts are by definition replies to other posts.
• Person B loves making hot takes that often run against the grain of any given thread (nothing wrong with that per se, but such takes will – and are often designed to – elicit response).
• Given Person A's tendency to respond to other posts, and given Person B's tendency to make posts to stir discussion or controversy, a disproportionate number of Person A's posts are purportedly directed at Person B.

It's similar to the Far Side cartoon in which a character is perturbed that people constantly laugh at him. A fair concern to be had, until we notice that our hero is literally a clown. Along the same lines, Bobo (and others) tend to respond more frequently to those who offer opinions – particularly those worded quite rigidly and with absolute tones.

Okay, that's enough. After a quick scan 500 posts in NVG (as that's pretty much the only forum ECB posts in) spanning about 22 months, that's all I could find. Based on that small sample, about a third of Bobo's replies had some snark to it, including one directed at yours truly. He certainly spreads it fairly evenly, with a slightly higher frequency to ECB, Dream Crusher and anyone with "rick" in their handle. All of them were warranted, in my opinion.

I think Paulina’s defend was fine at that stage of the tournament, but it’s borderline for sure. If she was deep then I think ICM plays a bigger role and she prob shouldn’t defend 82s.

Her check raise on the flop (I’m assuming) is fine, as is her turn barrel. She probably should’ve shut down on the river so that was a bit spewy imo (if my assumption of the HH is correct.

ECB can be over-the-top no doubt, but I think he’s a pretty entertaining poster despite that. He kinda gets piled on and doesn’t seem to let that slow him down. I kinda enjoy his tenacity even if it gets a bit redundant.

I think you meant to say Dara, right? Yeah, I mean his reputation is pretty international at this point (within the poker community), with a (GPI award winning) podcast, several poker strategy books and whatnot, so yeah, tarnishing his reputation without a second thought was completely uncalled for/crossing the line by ECB.

I mean, nothing wrong with that and hat's off, we definitely need more, as a community, enthusiasts/winning recs! But it also means that his poker analysis/POV's should be taken with a grain of salt.

On Dara O'Kearney. I do not personally know him, but have talked to him once. Up until the PB stuff, I had a high opinion of him. He is widely respected as far as I know in Europe and UK/Ireland. The few times I have heard him do commentary it was some of the best I have heard and wish he did more. He has written three recent books, two of which I have and they are some of the best books addressing the modern game I have read on their topics. One is on satellite strategy, the other on ICM theory. The other book is on PKO tournaments I haven't read because I don't really play this format. I have always had a high opinion of him. Seems like a overall good guy.

I still have a high opinion of him, although I do think him backing PB is strange. I think PB is strange, too, but if I were her I would take whatever backing I could get. Since I don't know everything about any of this PB stuff, I will withhold judgment and continue to think highly of Dara. That interview with PB was cringe, but it made me feel bad for her more than anything else. And I am not interested in watching high stakes cash games with PB, that won't change, but I don't watch many high stakes cash games because I think they are more semi-scripted reality TV than real poker. I wouldn't watch the WSOP high rollers if Poker Go was covering other events.

Nor does it matter. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I wouldn't be surprised if even if he DID ask seven 50-100 NL players, he might not have gotten much support for the play. The players asked might not be familiar with the dynamics of the situation, might not play tournaments, might be strictly live players who are out of date with some of those subtleties.

Not only that, but – again, assuming he did ask these players – we also don't know if he couched the question with all of the necessary details.

Besides, we all know if he really asked the question, he should have gotten seven "it depends" answers. Then you know it's legit.

dude suffers because he will never take in outside opinions, his mind is firmly on a position, everyone else needs to know what it is, and regardless of any discussion on it, he will never alter his viewpoint that nobody asked for in the first place

In his defense, EastCoastBalla never referred to $5/10 as high stakes. He himself plays $5/10, and he said he consulted with a bunch of "high-limit players," which he later said were from the $50/100 game.
