One time i couldn't make it to a friend game at Commerce. Of course they hit a jackpot the one time i didn't play. Was still a really fun dinner to attend the next night.

If you had arrived it would have changed the universe and actions in the room in a butterfly effect and the jackpot would not have hit anyways.

I'm not saying that me typing this message will for example change what Trump does five minutes from now. But it will change what everyone opening 2p2 does, and from there on everything they interact with (and thus changing what Trump does for example a week from now). But you going into a card room and playing would absolutely have changed that jackpot hitting (since you're close enough to immediately influence the environment).

Like, actually. So don't sweat it

^^What about your thoughts on #FlatEarth ?

Bad beats don't happen on Oblate Spheroids bro

P.s. I was next to the first ever "largest BBJ" ($600k+) when it hit at a grey haired 2/4 limit table @ the great Taj Mahal Atlantic City

Awesome brag, don't be jelly

If I punch your girlfriend in the face, will you and the rest of the room continue as if I had not punched her in the face?

Good, now apply the same concept to a larger room, in this case a card room, and its smaller actions, and decide for yourself if changing something in the room may have any sort of impact on what ends up happening in that room as far as shuffling of cards goes.

Flat earth is potato, nice level.

I read a really cool tweet in July or August time. It said "if you had a really good or bad WSOP, just remember - if you let one person off the plane before you your summer would've been completely different."

Made me glad I didn't let that fat ***** in the middle seat off before me.

How can the Earth be flat if North Korea landed a man on the Sun?

True! Yet some heads-up players who fold on the turn will ask the dealer to show the "next card". That "next card" would most likely have been a different card had they called.

Not saying the Earth is round or flat, but: No. No, they didn't. Learn how science and theory works.

He's actually 100% correct. If he had sat at the table or posted blinds at a different time as whoever took his place the order of the cards would change permanently right there. If not that, then the way he arranges and mucks his cards would be different from his replacement, again changing the order permanently. Even without any of that, the difference in timing, surroundings, and conversation probably would have caused the dealer to wash or shuffle at least one card in a different order, or put the cards into the shuffle machine a moment earlier/later (which I would assume changes the way they're shuffled).

Years ago we hit a bad beat jackpot while a dude at the table went to the restroom. Everyone at the table ended up giving the guy a small share of their money because if he was at the table we would of got nothing. It was a small table share like 460 each then the 40 20% to the winner and loser. I think your friends should of hooked u up with a little something for making them cash.

I once had my straight flush cracked by a higher straight flush... But we weren't in the casino.

Both hole cards used....what are the odds?

No it would not have been, and that is not what I am saying either. What I am saying is that if if the player asks the dealer to show the "next card" instead of not doing so, or does almost literally anything else at all, then everything that follows will be different. The not-by-then-PRE-SET-things (a pre set thing would be the deck of card already in the hands of the dealer which is already fixed and won't change at that moment).

It will be the same river card of course (I know you're leveling with your statement). However, the next hand dealt will not be the same hand as if he had not asked. This shouldn't even be hard to grasp.

Remember to send me scalding PMs every time you don't bink it as well. If I had not changed the world with my post then you going out in 1059th place could have been you winning instead.

To be serious for a moment the beauty of this realization is just that, that you of course don't know all the amazing things you're missing out on from the changes (you not binking the milly that you would have binked otherwise), but you do know that all those times you "missed out" you didn't actually miss out since if you had been in it, it wouldn't have hit.

edit: I really believe knowing this could vastly improve people's experience of the world, and in extreme cases save them from some pretty crazy agony. Imagine a not-pre-set-lottery (so one where the drawing hasn't already been made. If pre-set lotteries even exist, sounds like a security risk to me). Someone once in a while always plays number 39185138. One day that hits, and they are not in the lottery. This schmuck might literally kill themselves over it. It sure would be hard on me. The thing is, of course, that if that person had entered the lottery tha time then it would (likely) have affected the drawing system to produce a whole other line of numbers. So he didn't actually miss out at all. Like the BBJ-thing that spawned my first reply on it.
