If the board went T9554 and the dude snap called with 64 (when he normally would have folded river with 64) and you were bluffing, do you think he'd give you the pot back since the bluff "should have worked?" I think there's close to a 0% chance someone would return the pot in this situation, but it's essentially an identical situation only reversed.

fair enough but what about when you get your turn and flop bet back

If you hit, you win. If you miss, you don't lose.

I guess if the hand was vs Nitucci there’d be an argument to give the money back but Dr.H is a pure rec, i think giving the money back was the last thing on his mind lol
For real. Dude shouldn’t be playing if he misreads his cards that bad. He coulda peaked at his cards again ya know? Literally nobodies fault but theirs.

Put me in the corner of not giving the money back. This is poker.

The only time I would consider someone giving money back on the river would be if either:
- I bet, a 2nd player goes all-in and you call my bet, not realizing someone went all-in
- I go all-in and you call, and misread your hand (assuming the all-in was so much more than the pot)

Otherwise, it's your responisibility to read your hand correctly

Yet another habit, or lack thereof, from having only played online. Then boom... three streets of value from some guy who called with second pair or something.

After the river call, the guy laughed and said, "Wow, you totally fooled me."

When I asked how so, he went on. "Usually, when someone checks his cards on a flop like that, it means they're offsuit, and they're looking to see if they flopped the draw. People who are suited know they hit the flush, and they don't need to look."

Now, I don't know how true all that is, but bottom line is that he put me on a naked draw, then called down as if I couldn't have anything else.

I notoriously check and triple check my cards just to see if I remembered them correctly. I think I check them with every decision I need to make. So I never gave much thought into if this is a tell or if the person just has trouble remembering them or wants to make sure he has AA and not A4

This is why I prefer holdem over omaha. Less cards to mess up

If this happened to me I would just assume he called with 6 high for balance and I'd keep the money.

Misread a hand suit - bad luck
Misread a hand rank - OMG, take your money back

Or something like that apparently
