I inadvertently benefited from this tell during one of the first times I ever played live. Flopped the nut flush, but I peeked at my cards on the flop because I honestly forgot what suit I had. Yet another habit, or lack thereof, from having only played online. Then boom... three streets of value from some guy who called with second pair or something.
After the river call, the guy laughed and said, "Wow, you totally fooled me."
When I asked how so, he went on. "Usually, when someone checks his cards on a flop like that, it means they're offsuit, and they're looking to see if they flopped the draw. People who are suited know they hit the flush, and they don't need to look."
Now, I don't know how true all that is, but bottom line is that he put me on a naked draw, then called down as if I couldn't have anything else.
