I don't understand; can you rephrase that?
I guess I look up to DJs because I see they get an immediate response from an audience. They can feel the buzz as the crowd goes crazy in direct, immediate response to what they're doing.
If you're a writer, your connection with an appreciative audience is much further removed.
And as for poker players - well, they aren't really making anyone happy except themselves. Only the elite actually have fans, or make anyone "happy" - and then it's an odd mix of admiration, aspiration and envy we feel towards the poker pros we look up to; and we'd just as well see them brought down.
Yup, I'd rather be a millionaire DJ than poker player any day. Nobody ever danced to a Phil Ivey hand....
