I dunno.... I think it has some solid info from the front lines...

mods will eliminate posts they don't think fit pretty quickly, I took that risk.

An amazing close to a series in which much seemed in flux with the WSOP… somehow the planets have aligned, talent has won out, and Kid Poker is back at it just inches away from a seat in the November Nine. Negreanu has been very public about making the Main Event final table - one of the most daunting tasks in tournament poker - as one of the last goals to check off in his storied poker career. He came close in 2011, placing 11th - but that was before Moneymaker scored big and fields soared from 600 to 6,000. Up until this event, he had quite a tournament dry spell (really since placing second in the 2014 $1 million buy-in One Drop). Presumably his $7.5 million One Drop payday and PokerStars frontman status allowed Negreanu to shrug off the losses - but I saw a real fire in him after busting from the $500,000 High Roller Bowl at the Aria a week ago - he was clearly looking to make a deep run at the end and reassert his dominance.

Negreanu is in fine fettle, doing his usual comedic asshat routine even when not involved in pots and somehow managing to talk opponents out of calls when he pushes all in. The past two times he has been given a pass Kid Poker has shown A-K. He is projecting a tight image that will hopefully allow him to progress, as opponents make big lay downs, assuming he has the goods when he shoves.

Joe McKeenan is relentless in laying on the big-stack pressure and, after talking with longtime friend and backer Nicholas Verkaik I realize that he may be a frontrunner for a reason other than luck. A Philadelphia native, McKeenan played mid-to-high stakes online tourneys up until Black Friday and has since excelled on the live tournament felt. He notably placed second in the Monster Stack in 2014 for $820,863. The tourney gave 7,862 participants a 15,000 starting stack and was the event that came the closest in the WSOP schedule to replicating the grueling nine-day, 30,000 chip Main Event structure.

In one representative hand, Joe McKeehen bets out 600,000 UTG preflop and is called by Joshua Beckley in the small blind. A :Qh :8d :6d flop yields a Beckley call, as McKeehen puts in a continuation bet of 650,000 chips. A turn :3c is checked around. When a river :7h falls, Beckley puts together a 1.15m bet and McKeehen comes over the top, wielding the power of his 50 million chip stack. Beckley tanks for several minutes and finally elects to let go, dropping down to 3 million chips, or 12 big blinds. Whether Joe had it or not, he was well aware that calling was an inferior move to putting his opponent to the ultimate test - without something approaching the nuts, Joshua was likely to fold on the verge of the biggest bubble in poker.

I had fun with this thread.. I put it up for laughs, because I was there and it seemed a better option than posting on my blog and getting 10 readers. Not sure what I need to promote exactly... I love the game of poker. I know that anything on 2+2 comes with its share of haters. I did not foresee the second page being so-o-o slow to load, sorry. That was the reason I did segregate my "photo rich" posts anyway.

WSOP November Nine has been settled, Liv Boree has photobombed the obligatory group photo, I need a beer.

Making a blank post "big" doesn't make new pages magically appear. Stuff would load quicker if you didn't post billboard sized pictures in the first place.

They did this frequently in the WSOP updates too, describing someone's call before mentioning the bet they are calling. So painful to read!

The color picks look good; you can take the weird alien amber desaturated ones back with you to the mothership.

Backhanded compliments not withstanding: good stuff, thanks for posting!

Thanks... yeah I was thinking to figure out how to make the photos smaller on Imgur... thing is, I did not plan this thread. Like much of my writing, it occurred to me in the moment. I was taking pics of the dynamics between Negreanu, Stealthmunk, etc. and I figured people would be as interested as I was. Then Negreanu started coming up and talking out hands with Lindgren.. manna from poker rail heaven, though one has to be selective in what is put out. Generally the stuff he said in a louder voice I figured he would be ok with.

The rail podcast/interview thing with McKeehan's friend... well you can tell I was dead tired from flying back from Florida, taking care of ****. But there are a few interesting insights, nice to see the people who usually stay in the background when a player goes far give a perspective.
