Death from lack of sleep is medically impossible.
Sitting for long periods of time can cause blood clots and that causes a heart attack, thats why people die, people have done this from long trips on airplane rides.

I hope Phil breaks this record then chooses to quit poker and my television set for the rest of his life.

I can't stand this guy. Go away already.

i know people who have done 3-4 days without sleep/washing/eating on drugs and come out of sleep fine, it obv got pretty ****ed up by the end of the 4 days were everything was a blur etc, but they def didnt have effects which continued after.

without drugs staying up for close to 4 days is almost impossible.

anyone confirmed if phil's allowed to take drugs or anything performance enhancing at his "world record" attempt?

Am I one of a few people who actually is unimpressed by playing poker for numerous days? So what?!? Maybe if he started with $1k and turned it into $100k over 3 days it'd be impressive, but the sole achievement of sitting at a poker table for 3+ days isn't impressive and a waste of time imo.

+1
I see guys do this all the time when they don't want to pick up and have to get on the must move list if they are deep. Obv they sleep at the table, smell etc.

Make it drug tested and make it a break even or better bet and I will take some action on it.

The husband of one of my cousins won a contest about 12-14 years ago. A modular home company was doing a promotion and 50 people were randomnly selected (that entered the drawing). Whoever kept their hand on the house the longest, won. Well kinda, Every hour you could have a 5 minute break. So basically, hand on house for 55 minutes, then 5 minutes to suck up the caffeine or take a nap or whatever.

It started Sunday at noon and went to Thursday morning before my cousins husband won. (Like 92 hours) Him and a woman were left and they were both delirious and hallucinating at the end of it. The woman just took her hand off to itch her leg or something without realizing it.

It probably helped that he used to be a big coke head, but they did drug test both participants at the hospital after it was over and he came back clean for the competition.

This is obviously a publicity stunt. It's free publicity (like this thread) for Bellagio and Laak whether he wins or not.

This guarantees him a spot on "Nuts" or whatever the segment will be on the ESPN cast.

Its actually true tho, around 50 hours the avg human can't keep their eyes open even if they tried... around 55 hours avg human starts to hallucinate and motor functions shut down... pretty impressive stuff

Waste of time because as someone pointed out already Guinness won't recognize it because they don't want people killing themselves to get into the book.

Phil Laak watching too much Deadliest Catch IMO.

I have done some pretty marathon sessions myself even long before I knew what poker was...

Did 100 hours once when I was a kid...pretty sure it would kill me now but I still crank out a 50 hour every once in a while for nostalgia...
I don't use anything except coffee and cigarettes (never had a red bull if you can believe that).

Anything over 40 hours or so and some pretty cool things happen to your brain...it's like tripping without the acid.

Would hate to tell you but your life span is not gona be long.

Anyways, 78 hours is huge, we used sleep depervation as a way of torture. If you see that video of the guy he was tottaly out of it.
Who cares what stakes he plays, he should be able to play 2-5 and it doesnt matter if he wins or loses, id say 3 dinner breaks, obv bathroom breaks, and a few 15 min breaks to walk around, its a must to get circulation through the legs.

I've done 60 hour+ sessions while multi-tabling MUDs (actually multi-computering MUDs to be more specific, since we didn't have no fancy windows) while in college. 4 DECs plus a Sun station....true baller setup in the computer lab.

They would be followed by 36-hour sleep sessions. Then by one big ass meal.

If you even know WTF I am talking about, or can relate to it in any way, you are a true degen. And old like me.
