He'll do anything to make himself seem relevant and to be talked about, but good on him.

the world record is something nuts, like 18 days or something. I think the average person could go a week without sleeping, if you're in perfect health conditions you might be able to do 8 or 9 days but you would be tripping balls near the end.

See, I hear stuff like this all the time, but I'll be damned if I ever see it or get reall confirmation. Staying up 48+ hours straight without drugs is VERY hard, and hearing about old people doing it sounds even less likely. I'd be willing to bet less than .001% of all people have stayed up for 48 hours straight without drug help. For the record, my record is up 42 hours straight, playing only 19 hours str tho. Neither are entirely impressive, but both are likely far above average.

CliffsNotes: Played for 7 hours. Felt tired. Slept for 8 hours.
The implied odds suggests that if you sleep for 90hours straight you're +EV to take down the 78 hour world record.

Here's the thing about long sessions: you don't actually gain any hours at the table, you just put them in under worse circumstances.

If, for example, you play 24 hours straight, you probably can't play at all the next day. So it's better to put in two 12-hour plays. Same hours, but better health and focus. YMMV but you get the idea.

Yea I was about to ask about this. People have died playing video games for less than 70 hours str8. Hope Laak survives...literally

This should be a relatively doable, you just need to practice like crazy and hire a really good nutritionist to get your body mentally and physically prepared.

I've only done 30h~ sessions, but I remember having a really hard time sleeping after some of them. A few I got home and instantly crashed, while others were basically spent wide awake on a couch.

78h should be relatively fine if he is allowed small breaks for walks/showers. Catheter+Duck Tape+Chair would be a different story though.
