I received this press release this morning in my email

Phil Laak to Attempt New Poker Endurance World Record at Bellagio in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada May 19, 2010 – Poker professional Phil “The Unabomber” Laak is looking to set a new world record for the most hours of poker played in a single sitting.

Taking place at the luxurious Bellagio Poker Room in Las Vegas, starting on June 2, Laak will be looking to break the world record of 78 straight hours of playing poker which was set by Paul Zimbler in the fall of 2009.

Phil Laak is an internationally recognized poker pro, known for his iconic look at the poker table where he wears sunglasses and a hooded sweatshirt pulled over his head. He is also a regular on televised poker shows like Poker After Dark and High Stakes Poker. His animated personality, banter at the tables and interest in participating in sometimes bizarre propositional bets have also contributed to his renown.

"I have played many enduro sessions of poker, but never anything of this magnitude,” stated Laak. “I know this will test my limits but I love a good challenge and am excited to be trying to beat this record in Vegas’ top poker room."

What limit do you think he will be playing?

What drugs is he gonna be on for the laps of the challenge !? I think he'll play in the biggest NL game available imo... Probably 10-20 NL...

How the hell do people play massive sessions live anyways. I wouldn't feel too comfortable sitting on a 3000bb stack when I'm really really tired after 40 hours of play. It's not like online where you can just change tables when you get too deep.

guy looks scarily delirious really bad for your health.
There have been a few cases of people dying from fatigue playing world of warcraft http://au.gamespot.com/news/6132357.html?sid=6132357 , that guy died after a 50 hour session and another young girl died by playing too long aswell.

I don't think this is that tough without certain paramters:
1. He should show profit after the session.
2. He should be playing no less than 10/20 NL given that he is rolled.
3. Bathroom Break Limits?

Also - not to say that Laak uses it, but can he use Adderall? I would think this is super-easy if someone did it with whole bunch of Adderall or Modafanil.

You can definately do 4 or 5 days with the help of Adderall or Modafanil. The key is to make sure to force food and plenty of water into your stomach. It does feel really crappy for after a couple of days (and a few days afterwards), but certainly manageable if you keep the nutrients going.

hopefully he starts at 10/20 and wins enough to blow at 1/2 or 4/8limit at the end

speaking from experience, taking adderall when you've already been awake for 24+hrs can make the mind do scary things. i did this once when i started my business and at about hour 34 it was ****ing miserable. sleep deprivation is a torture/interrogation technique for a good reason. and adderall ****ing sucks.

i wouldn't attempt this unless i was getting at least 10-1, and could have a 45min break every 6hrs.

i'd bet phil has a specific concoction of chemistry that will serve him well.

oh, and i bet he starts out playing 10-20, and ends up playing whatever the **** is running at 6am on a thursday morning at bellagio. might be 15-30.

one things for sure, it'll bring a ****ing rail.
