Thought that news was pretty sick and worth a little thread.
Regardless of what we might think of the man himself (bad/good for the game, a douchy or touching personnality etc...) the accomplishment is here.
What you guys think of that?
Can anyone follow his path or are the bracelet races getting less prestigious in this post-modern era of the pokhar?
He has to be at very least the WSOP goat.
BTW, loved how he was in full love and empathy mode toward the man he bought in next year ME. Honestly felt like it was genuine. Might be a level regarding his public image.

I believe his first WSOP was in 1988. The guy plays most events now so lets say in the 30 years he has been playing he has averaged 40 WSOP events per year. That would be 1,200 WSOP tourney's he has played. He has 134 cashes. 11% cash rate. Nothing special

You are nothing but an unrelenting hater, uncontrollably seething with emerald green envy, lipstick red jealously, and kaleidoscopically multi-colored hatred.

How many $75 buy-in Flamingo Casino poker room tournaments have you won?

Do you think there has always been 60 events a year, or even 40?

There were 11 open event in 1988 (I don't think Hellmuth played a lot that first year), 14 open events in 1990 and it was all the way up to 15 in 1999.

And I'm not even sure Hellmuth is playing more than half the events right now. He takes a lot of days off.

I think it's closer to 600 wsop tourneys by being generous.

Apparently he's now won 9 bracelets (joint most) before the Moneymaker boom and 6 bracelets (joint most) since the Moneymaker boom. Say what you want about some of his antics, and everyone seems to have an opinion about him, but his record is the stuff of legends!

Phil Hellmuth is one of the worst poker players who get's lucky once in awhile. The majority of his bracelets comes from WSOP's that had thin fields.
Stop confusing luck with skill. Player' s will go on sick heaters, but everything reverts back to the mean.

Please stop giving Phil Hellmuth any attention. He's one of the worst poker personalities at the table and what he did to the amateur fireman was despicable. Anyone who defends Phil needs a reality check. He's all about himself and arguably the most egotistical, delusional, self-centered person I've seen.

I'm just scratching the surface. I could go on with the UB fiasco, ripping off backers blinding/anteing out, throwing tantrums after every bad beat. Let him bust into obscurity.

He's won 6 bracelets post-Moneymaker boom (plus another 2 bracelets during Moneymaker's year of 2003).

Lisandro has also won 6 post-2003 bracelets, but every one was either in a Stud event or overseas PLO event, all of which had small fields. Ivey has won 6 post-2003 bracelets, again almost all in small field mixed-game events.
No one else can match even his recent success.

What he did to the fireman? You mean buying him back in next year tournament? Having the fireman praise him? Getting someone with a worst hand to call all-in? The guy calling had a worst flush draw. It's result oriented to say that he "did something to the fireman", if anything he did something to the other guy who happened to get lucky. And we don't even know if he would have folded. He had 10 times more chips than the fireman. It was bad table etiquette and he should have been penalized, but, as of right now, Hellmuth didn't do anything to that fireman. Ask the fireman on twitter.

Also, in what type of fields do you think that pros win most of their bracelets? You think that pros mostly win the 1 500$ buy-in with a few thousand players?

To say that someone with 15 bracelets and nearly 23 million in live earnings gets "lucky once in a while" is beyond dumb. He makes a lot of mistakes, but he obviously found something that suits his game.
