I think it depends on what metric you use to determine the best. If its WSOP bracelets, then no one else has more.
If these other top players wanted to be the best in the WSOP bracelet race, all they have to do is get in there and win more.

Surely, some of these top nosebleed players could do both (play nosebleed events AND try and win bracelets at the smaller events), but they don't seem to want to bother with the smaller events.

Why the huge focus on high rollers? How much cross interest is sold in those? You have good players, often playing beyond their roll. So to cut down the variance they can’t afford they cross sell the bulk of themselves.

That or they bink their way in on a heater that continues for awhile. Then they either retire before they run cold or they do run cold and go broke.

If winning the most expensive tournaments makes you the best then we don’t need to look past the winners of the million dollar one drops. Obviously Antonio is the GOAT and there can be no question about it.

Remember if nlhe is solved, then all we are witnessing is variance.
